What travellers are saying
- Traveler5280Denver111 contributionsIt cost $9 to get in. It was so hot, but you can buy a bottle of water for about 50 cents. I came here after the Grand Palace and it was about a 15 minute walk.
This is the place to see the Reclining Buddha, but there’s a lot more to see.
There are a lot of spots where you need to take off your shoes, so you might want to bring socks. The pavement could be pretty hot.
There were stray cats wandering around the grounds.Written 28 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Trevor S46 contributionsGreat fun 1000's of stalls much to see, a lot of clothes and not as many interesting stalls as there were when I went in 2016, but a great day out, easy to get lost. - Jan WVantaa, Finland101 contributionsTake dress code seriously. They are very strict and happy to sell you proper covers with reasonable price (trousers, 200 baht).
Cash was not accepted, so please prepare for card payment.
Area is vast, but mostly inaccessible for tourists. Concentrate on first section and spend most of your time there before exiting to next area (returning is not possible without stamp on your hand.
Museum of the temple of the emerald Buddha was closed for renovation.
Museum of textiles was open, but not especially interesting.
I was the first one to enter in the morning, which was perfect for taking photos before crowds.
Even scammers were not there yet to try to lie you that place is closed. They also turn signs pointing to wrong direction and try to confuse you to walk away from entrance. I saw this happening when I exited.
Anyway impressive buildings and worth visiting despite all hassle and quite expensive ticket.Written 10 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Whilst the shopping was not for us we did enjoy the excellent gourmet food store in the basement. The fruit and vegetables were so fresh and such a beautiful array of colours and smells.Written 25 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are lots of people which is to be excepted in high season but it was still worth visiting. The architecture and detail from a distance is different from close up and so seeing it in person was special.
We saw many people hiring traditional clothing from stores outside the site to wear and take photos inside.
You can get refreshments from a little stand with seating around.
You can also cross the river towards the grand palace at the exit by the river. It cost 5 baht and took less than 5mins to get across one side of the river to the other.Written 25 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - KyFlynnMunich, Germany2,007 contributionsYou can pay 200 baht to join a tour through the house where you will follow a guide leading you through parts of the garden before it’s time to head inside. You learn a lot about Jim Thompson, but mostly the items he collected. There is pottery, figures, ancient paintings and some really interesting items from times back then.
The tour was really incredibly well made and there was just so much information. But never was the tour boring, it was just fascinating. Just notice that while photography is allowed inside, it’s not allowed to take selfies or film inside. We had one guest who sadly ignored these rules so the security often talked to them which quite disrupted the experience.
At the end of the tour, you enter the souvenir shop, and while there are some really stunning pieces, the price sadly is really high.Written 5 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Be aware though, that I arrived at 11:30 am and more than half the vendors were soon closing for a two hour lunch. I was even in the middle of a purchase and the vendor said to choose if I wanted the bag as they were closing for two hours. I was not going to be rushed so walked away but then the choice was much more limited. Haggling is imperative! 😄Written 12 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ZvikagolTel Aviv, Israel761 contributionsWorthwhile visiting for uniqueness of the constructions don’t expect to really see the little statueUnique and different from other temps in the city.

- TheRelfsterManchester, UK2,091 contributionsOur hotel was close by so we visited by day and night. It was interesting to see it by day as it’s so different, not half as lively as during the evening.
