Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My partner and I visited Dzanga Sangha National Park in December 2023. This was a life highlight for us! The WWF team has done a fantastic job in building infrastructure to support tourism and training a high quality team of multi-lingual local guides and trackers. We enjoyed a wide variety of wildlife activites; including lowland gorilla tracking, agile mangabey (monkey) tracking, spending an afternoon in the animal hide at the ten hectare Dzanga Bai watching hundreds of elephants and forest hiking. Our only company in this undiscovered gem was the odd WWF researcher. But better yet was the opportunity to interact with the local Ba'Aka pygmies, made famous for their singing abilities by Louis Sarno. As the traditional custodians of the land, they allowed us into their lives, with sustainable net hunting, water drumming (musical performance), village cooking class, medicinal plant collection, leaf hut construction and more. The humility and good nature of the "foresr people" made them the highlight of an extraordinary trip.

Furthermore, the serenity of the entire region is not spoken about enough. Central African Republic has the least light pollution in the world and in the picturesque riverside setting we were serenaded to sleep by the sounds of the river each night.

We booked our Central African Republic holiday through the competitively priced and well organised Soviet Tours. We stayed in well appointed Doli Lodge, who organised all activities in the park, and flew to Bayanga (the nearest town to the lodge and national park) from Bangui on a charter organised by the local lodges and park. It is also possible to arrive in Bayanga via boat from Cameroon or overland from Bangui. The other popular accommodation for park visitors is called Sangha Lodge. Whilst this can be a pricier trip, with more complex logistics than others in Africa, it is undeniable worthwhile courtesy of the uniqueness of the location and experiences along with the opportunity to contribute to the conservation of threatened communities and wildlife. This area of Central African Republic is very safe. The broader country is peaceful at this time too, although you'd still be able to make this trip safely even if it wasn't given the Dzanga Sangha area is isolated from the rest of Central African Republic. Don't be deterred by poorly informed and politically charged travel advisories from Western governments, this is an lifetime experience not to be missed.

Beautiful Catholic temple. The faith of the congregants was humbling. The different faith associations bring their best offerings and song and dance enliven the liturgy.

Great view over Congo. The artesanal fish boats, crossing the two margins, are a must. Nice place for some good photos.

My wife and I were safari guides in the Manovo St Floris Park from 1987 to 1988. The place was a natural paradise with a huge variety of animals and birds, including elephants, cape buffalo, lions, leopards, hippos, derby eland, giraffe, thousands of different antelope, warthogs, crocodiles, etc....The park had one of the largest concentrations of hippos in the world, with more than 500 staying in a river bed in the north of the park. We would fish for Nile perch aka "le Capitain" and catch some weighing more than 60 kilos. Mr. and Mrs. Jean Laboureur managed the reserve with their son, Mathieu. Christian, Annemarie and I were guides. If you were lucky enough to have visited the park in those days, you can appreciate how much we are losing to the constant war and famine in the CAR over the past decade. We are thankful for the memories, but saddened that it cannot be shared with our children one day. Hopefully, it can recover and be preserved..

To visit and see the area with a (good and safe, locked) car is okay but walking on the street or even go out of your vehicle is not at all recommended. It is where we can see the local people's part of lives but for tourists - better to think twice.

Hard bargain the sellers, because you will get from them, lots of cool artwork and wood carvings and masks, some masks I found there were fakes, friendly for the area, they are just trying hard to sell, don't wear white shoes, or clothes, the dirt is very red.

again, as there are not that many landmarks to see in the city of Bangui, Place de la République is the one to see.

I had a last minute appointment for a massage, after a tiring day. I did not try other beauty treatments, but massage service was satisfactory! The staff was very polite. Ambience is very nice, minimalistic decor, sooting music and overall relaxing atmosphere. Affordable prices. Recommended for relaxation and quick escape from everyday stress!
