What travellers are saying
- Craig EManchester, UK2,338 contributionsGreat little peaceful spot away from the hectic Medina area.
Lovely gardens and stunning house, the colours are incredible and very vibrant.
Pretty small, so you only need around 30 minutes to walk around. Worth a visit if you have a bit of spare time while visiting,Written 18 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Lots to see and shopping is easy if you wish, but I kept my wallet well hidden. Can't believe the crowds and the motorcycles driving through the people. Strange to a Canadian but an absolute must visit place.Written 10 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ben KFleet, UK32 contributionsCultural and interesting experience learning about Moroccan history.
Tickets wise — they are 100 dirihams and are cash only. You can’t pre book and have to queue when you get there. At about 11am when we visited, the queue was no longer than 5 minutes. When we left at midday, it was even shorter.
The place is rammed full of tourists and tour groups, making pictures hard work but didn’t nullify the beauty within. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit, even with one of the quadrangles being under reconstruction following a previous earthquake.

In the daytime, there are musicians, snake charmers, fruit sellers and other stalls all vying for your business, all the while cars and scooters are driving through the square and not on a dedicated road! At night time, the square turns into the night market which includes dozens at pop-up restaurants and cafes, more musicians, story tellers and performers. It’s an exciting, chaotic place to visit and you will probably pass through here multiple times when visiting the Souks and they start from here.Written 28 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Janka KBrno, Czech Republic9,379 contributionsI appreciate how nicely reconstructed the building is. You will learn about how much work it was from a video played on a screen in one of the exposition rooms.
An entrance ticket to this museum is also not as expensive as at some other museums/touristic places in Marrakesh.Written 12 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Unusual plants and tress and a very old interesting building. We just wandered round ourselves. Didn’t do the tower and there was a lengthy queue for one of the rooms so we couldn’t wait as tight for time. Overall an enjoyable visit and not expensiveWritten 3 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- BrookeMoralesLondon, UK2,084 contributionsThis iconic mosque is centrally located in Marakesh. Beautiful architecture and plaza around it. Very interesting.
You can visit inside too.Written 17 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Some good info on archeology efforts in the area. Some neat historical pictures. It was fine visiting, probably wouldn't need to return if we visit Marakech again.Written 18 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - howiet1971Swindon, UK1,870 contributionsFirstly, these gardens are 45 minutes from Marrakech so IF you prebook your tickets AND also prebook the free shuttle bus (some people didn’t realise they had to do this separately – it is on their website) it’s absolutely worth the trip; you can also visit of your own accord if you have a car. The gardens are large, almost oasis like, lush and filled with a wide range of palms, cactuses, banana trees and so much more. Amongst the gardens are various art pieces by Andre Heller, a large pond, a café with good toilets and a lovely gift shop, and behind the café is also a beautiful tent to sit in if you want some shade.. The gardens also have lots of chairs dotted around, a couple of hammocks and a Berber tent to chill out in so relax! It’s a beautiful change from the chaos of Marrakech.
Tip: If it’s a clear day, go on the terrace above the café and you’ll have a stunning view of the Atlas mountains.Written 27 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are lots of displays and informative information and also a couple of videos to watch. I would definitely recommend a visit.Written 2 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Marian R4 contributionsAmazing photographs showing the history of Marrakech and beyond. Lots of stairs but well worth making it to the top floor to see the exhibit there. There is a rooftop coffee shop with a fantastic view of the city.Written 4 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ulisanAthens, Greece312 contributionsIf staying for two or more days in Marrakech this is a neighborhood that you will visit. It's more European style with clothes stores, restaurants, clubs, etc. Depends what you are looking for.Written 22 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
