Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Rebekah L32 contributionsModerate hike, took us around 1 hour to complete. It does get steep at some parts and a little muddy if it has been raining, but the greenery on the way to the waterfall is gorgeous and there’s a nice viewing platform for the waterfall at the top.Written 10 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tommy BFinger Lakes, NY594 contributionsMy wife and I decided today was the day to visit Waimea Valley. After a few days of rain, we thought the waterfall would be running hard. It was! The stream after the waterfall was running hard as well, so beautiful rapids. The natural flora alongside the wide paved trail was absolute gorgeous. Additionally we saw a number of birds. Really quite nice. The walk is fairly easy. A long uphill to the waterfall. But downhill virtually the entire way back. A little touristy at the visitor center, but to be expected. Overall a very nice experience.Written 29 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Discover5231713 contributionsGo, you will not regret it. It's amazing. The Garden is beautiful!!! The waterfall is inside the garden. You need at least 2 hours to take your time to explore the garden fully. Once inside the garden its a 30 minute uphill walk to the garden. It may a bit challenging for some. However you can pay and ride the golf cart instead of walking. However if you can walk, walk it so you can take your time. Take your bathing suit just in case you are able to swim in the waterfall. You will get lots of great pictures. Nice spots in the garden for a picnic. I will definitely go back.Written 18 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- d1dominoGilbertsville, PA73 contributionsAll Trails says it’s illegal, but there are so many people still doing it. We pulled into the parking area and found a spot. Crowded, but not full.
The trail is easy to follow from AllTrails. If you’re unsure which way to go, ask someone coming the other way.
We had rain and no rain coats, so we were chilly when we got to the falls and didn’t swim, but there is plenty of water to swim in. We didn’t stay long because it was later in the day, which put the sun partially on the falls.
I would recommend this hike, but not if you are alone. Make sure there are others already in the trail.Written 2 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I did not read any reviews before hiking this and boy was I in for a ride.
Entrance - finding the entrance is a little tricky. It's hidden, right around the corner of a residential neighborhood.
Hike trails - it's easy to get lost. The clues are not that obvious, but we were able to meet some locals who were able to pave the way. This trail is MUDDDY! Make sure you bring proper attire, shoes, and clothing. I slipped and jammed my finger (unfortunately) bringing a first aid kit is a good idea for next time.
Bugs - Lots of bugs, bring a bug spray repellant.
This hike requires getting down and dirty, climbing through boulders, going into the creek to get to the other side, and lots of incline and decline. However, the outcome of this trail is super beautiful! I did not jump off the cliff, but my fiance did. Highly recommend this!Written 6 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The falls aren't overly impressive and you definitely can't swim in the tiny pool at the bottom, but the hike was a nice short hike.Written 9 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - donnajmasTulsa, OK6 contributionsscenery very beautiful nice hike gives good exercise and worth the time to visit very memorable take time to see all fallsWritten 2 August 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Pam BEvanston, IL36 contributionsIt is not a difficult hike. The path is beautiful vegetation. The path is not difficult but with the tropical weather the path is muddy. It is a slick layer on your shoes which makes the path a little more difficult than it should be. Shoes with traction are a plus. The falls are pretty. There is a parking fee and no services. Bring bug spray and water.Written 3 April 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Rasa FFiumicino, Italy34 contributionsA bad element hangs out here. I've found used condoms and needles under the bridge. That being said, as a kid, I'd come here often to jump off the high rocks into the forest pool. Sometimes there's a posse out here that makes you feel unwlecome, and a huge problem with graffiti on the rocks. That being said, the river and yes are Jurassic, quite something to behold.Written 20 August 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - J HCalgary, Canada431 contributionsWe went during the wet season so it was a muddy hike. We parked at the golf course and did the hike from here (vs Old Pali Road access). We did read other reviews that the golf course doesn't always let you park here (busy weekends), we were there on a Friday afternoon and it was empty. Park fatherest corner from the club house and follow the paved pathway. You'll get to a graffiti building, you'll see the path to the LEFT before that (don't go around it). Follow the path up, you'll eventually get to a stone path way (in our case it was very mud covered) and it was very over grown (felt like we were going to the witch's house). Then you'll get to a section that has 5 (I think it was 5) fallen very large tree trunks, as the last one TURN RIGHT (there is an arrow cared, but worn, into the tree) if you miss this turn you'll end up at the Old Pali Road. Follow that to the stream that leads to the waterfall. We had the falls to ourselves. It wasn't as tall as Manoa, but it was quiet and peacful and way less muddy. I think it took us about 40 minutes at a slow pace.Written 24 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SweetJo0000Portland, OR11 contributionsBeautiful botanical garden to visit. Great escape from the busy city. Swam under the water fall was amazing. They will provide life jackets. I could have spent more time here. All plants are labeled, historical sights and education. Highly recommend.Written 4 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
