- Drus C2 contributionsMy husband and I happened to stumble into this place while they were open completely unaware of what it was. We were surprised at what a fantastic experience it was! Boasting to be one of the last dime museums in America, it's full of character through its many oddity exhibits, including a two-headed T-Rex! I was surprised at how informative it was as well. Many people have heard about Barnum and "Ripley's Believe it or Not", without knowing much more about the history of museums in the USA. The guide, Peter able to charismatically teach us a ton about the history of museums and side attractions through a variety of vignettes. The museum itself is full of personality, featuring many hidden doors and unexpected sights. Some of the comments and exhibits were hilarious! I was bursting out laughing at a particular one. I won't give away any surprises, so you will just have to come to see. In the end, we were able to be treated to see a live sword swallowing performance!
Overall, the museum has a lot of heart and is worth seeing. Its family-owned roots and passion from the team are very apparent. I'm really glad I was able to see this, and I definitely recommend scheduling a tour to anyone reading this!Written 15 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Includes a plethora of pictures and memorabilia of residents of the city. This was interesting as well as the tribute to James Brown. Disappointed in the lack of history on civil rights currently.Written 17 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tiffany SWaldorf, MD96 contributionsSuper fun, we saw two alligators and about ten baby gators. Definitely recommend wearing decent shoes since some of the boardwalks we covered in water so our feet got wet.Written 3 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jennifer G11 contributionsI love museums, and try to visit at least one history museum wherever I travel.
Honestly, this museum in Augusta is one of the finest I've ever visited. It is so extensive in its coverage of Georgia's history, and its relics, I believe anyone desiring to know more of the history of the U.S. South would benefit from a visit. We spent 2.5 hours downstairs, and a quick half hour upstairs since we were all hungry. The exhibit on Dyess was a favorite of our children, as well as the actual trolly, train cars that visitors could sit in. I was amazed by the nearly 1000 pound cotton bale on exhibit weighed by a traditional cotton scale. I have already recommended this museum to locals who had not visited, and now to you! Go! Learn! Enjoy!Written 1 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The course was so nice and in great condition. The parking lot was a nice area and was a good workout to walk a lot but had a great memory there with my dad. I’d def go again.Written 17 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Tammie BBrookhaven, MS288 contributionsBeautifully restored church. The stained glass windows are phenomenal. The grounds around the church are beautiful, too. Staff are extremely knowledgeable about the church’s history and renovations. - Kim SWilmington, NC73 contributionsWe stopped in Augusta just to see this museum on our way home to Wilmington NC from Atlanta. It's a hidden jewel located in a corporate building. There are well-marked 2-hour free parking spaces, but we stayed longer without a problem. If we didn't need to get on the road I could have stayed longer as we especially enjoyed their modern, folk, and glass collections. The museum shop is worth a stop all by itself. The buyer is a genius and most gracious. We had a blast shopping for gifts, books, Christmas decor, and personal items. Google Maps got us to and from the interstate without a hitch.Written 30 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - OTANEZ DANIEL RAugusta, GA3 contributionsThe second floor especially in the food court was HOT, I think the windows could use some tint to help with the heat in the summer. Overall good variety of stores and kiosks, seemed to be well kept, felt pretty safe as I went during the afternoon through the evening.Written 8 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
