Great to hike or climb! Park and take the hike up to Monkey face, bike, walk the river or take your climbing gear!
The running trail along the river where you can see otter, white-tailed deer, ducks and Heron, keeps you one with nature and in awe at the beauty around you.
This is a pinnacle of our parks system complete with a great, educational visitor center and mountain Pacific rainforest to volcanic beach experiences.
Then just park your car and take numerous easy trails along the shore to enjoy natural wells and tidepools especially Devil's Churn, Cooks Chasm and Spouting Horn.
The Columbia River Gorge is one of the most beautiful places on earth ~ I always view the beauty with awe ~ and I live and breathe this beautiful nature ~ a true native Oregonian ~ it is a true natural beauty!
The Portland Women's Forum Park provides incredible views of Vista House and beyond, and then Vista House shows closer views of the cliffs and river.

Wide open park and river space (was there during beer fest!)...float down the river, surf on rapids and miles of walkways, with plenty of restaurants, pubs, shops and other distractions.

Driving to Ecola State Park at the north end of Cannon Beach is easy and great fun to drive through a residential area and then into the forested winding drive with moss covered trees while spotting deer at times.
It is truly a magnificent coastal park with hiking trails, a botanical garden nearby, wildlife viewing areas, bathrooms, picnic areas, viewing benches, and good beach and tide pool access.
There is plenty of parking, an observation platform, and incredible geology to intrigue and fascinate the nature lover.

Hug Point State Park Cannon Beach
... caves, tide pools with lots of sea life, three beautifully clean beaches, a waterfall, hill climbing areas, and a ledge that extends out over the ocean and connects you to the adjacent Arcadia Beach State Park.
It may be different during the height of tourism in the summer, but we loved the ruggedness and wild of Hug Point State Park in late September.
Beautiful drive gets you to a nice parking area and a little walk gets wonderful views of nature at it's best.
It is worth a short stop to hike between the two falls (both impressive to look at) There are parking areas at each of the falls, but most people park at the one without the campground.
It also is an amazing history lesson about this amazing force of nature over several decades.
You can even park a distance away and ride the trolley.
