This is one of the nicest, most thorough aviation museums I've had the pleasure to tour.
Btw, within an easy 2-3 hour route are the Tuskegee Airmen in Alabama, Civil War Naval, Infantry, Andersonville, and Warner Robins Aviation museums.

I love Cumberland Island and the Museum, the island has great scenery, wild horses and other animals, you can buy souvenirs at the Museum where you purchase tickets for the ride to the Island on one of the boats.
This history, as well as the history of Cumberland Island National Seashore, is told elegantly in this small museum run by the National Park Service.

I visited Civil rights museums in almost every city and this is one of the best.
The history of this place is incredible, and most of the museum is focused on local events which took place in Savannah in the 60's and it was truly eye-opening and an important piece of history to learn about.

This place is a few miles out of Savanna’s historic district but it worth your visit (you can purchase a 2-day 3-attractions ticket for this place which includes also the train and children museums).
