Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Margaret R1 contributionMy grandson and I booked the 5 day Gourmet walk with Wilderness Guides for the Queen Charlotte track. Everything about this Company is exceptional. The organisation in the office to make sure everything fits together is so professional and friendly. We had a fantastic guide (Sean) who had a great personality and was so knowledgeable on the flora and fauna of the area.
The walk is quite strenuous, especially the third day, but is definitely worth the effort, it is stunning, such beautiful scenery, and a different view around every bend, and you know at the end of every day you have a great place to stay with excellent food and wine to look forward to.
A wonderful experience, and sense of achievement.Written 11 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Plenty of walks down to uncrowded beaches. water an amazing colour in the sun. - johnnyroadmapNantwich, UK210 contributionsWhat a beautiful little town, the gateway to the South Island. I’ve never seen so many motorhomes queuing for the ferry!
We walked up path which overlooks the town and harbour, a stunning view on a lovely day. The town itself is very quaint with a lovely harbour side looking out to mountains beyond.

The staff were great and very knowledgeable and happy to spend some extra time with us to explain the various animals, fish and birds on display. and as an added bonus the food was good to!Written 20 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Peter WWoking261 contributionsWe had a very enjoyable day with Will (who is from the UK and has a great sense of humour!) and Dan, starting with a briefing on the shore and then we set out into Marlborough Sound. We were the only two people dropped on Blumine Island - by means of a ladder dropped over the front of the boat!!! We wanted to see the rare orange-fronted parakeet - and were successful using Will's hint on where it was most likely to be found. We were (hooray!) picked up after five hours on the island, and then we joined the afternoon passengers on a visit to Motuara Island. We were given a hot drink on the way back to Picton, and then a bonus glass of wine. There were plenty of other sightings on the trip including dolphins and the very rare king shag, only found in Marlborough Sound. Such a good way to spend a day.Written 29 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Suzy M29 contributionsWe did the drop off at Resolution Bay then walked to Furneaux Lodge. The boat ride was excellent - on the way out we got a commentary from the skipper and he was happy to chat too. The ride was fairly long but gave good chance to enjoy the scenery and learn something about the area. On the way back there wasn't any commentary (that I could hear anyway -we were outside on deck) but the weather was good and the views were just incredible.
Prompt service. I would definitely do it again.Written 4 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kim P16 contributionsI had been planning this trip for over 2 years before I was able to pull it off. Anna was so patient, responding to all of my inquires. A few times I thought I had the logistics worked out and then had to make some changes. She very kindly dealt with each one as they came up. The Queen Charlotte Track was challenging some days. There are some steep hills but if you hike your own hike you'll be fine. Views are amazing along the way. I felt that I had all the necessary info and maps to complete the hike. Trails were well marked. I also hiked the Abel Tasman. I love the water so the views from this track were even more spectacular for me. Breathtaking postcard worthy in so many places. This track I felt that I could have used some better info for navigation. Thankfully I was able to. team up with some locals, one that had hiked portions before and we all had a great time. I'm not foodie so the meal choices at the lodges were not great for me. At the end of the day I just wanted something basic to eat and a hot shower. I could not understand why some lodges wanted me to make reservation for my dinner? I would arrive at the appointed time and the place was almost empty. I really enjoyed the water taxis too. Was fun to see the area from that perspective. I highly recommend working with New Zealand Walks for your adventure! I live in the USA so fine tuning all the logistics was critical for me.Written 7 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lyn RTrinity Beach, Australia572 contributionsWe picked a lovely fine Spring day for our three hour sail around the Sound. Nice stable catamaran, good bar on board, useful commentary on local sights. You are provided with a nice feast of green shelled mussels, bread and dukkah, and fresh cooked delicious salmon. It really is a lovely cruise and worth the price. Recommended.Written 19 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
