Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Margaret R1 contributionMy grandson and I booked the 5 day Gourmet walk with Wilderness Guides for the Queen Charlotte track. Everything about this Company is exceptional. The organisation in the office to make sure everything fits together is so professional and friendly. We had a fantastic guide (Sean) who had a great personality and was so knowledgeable on the flora and fauna of the area.
The walk is quite strenuous, especially the third day, but is definitely worth the effort, it is stunning, such beautiful scenery, and a different view around every bend, and you know at the end of every day you have a great place to stay with excellent food and wine to look forward to.
A wonderful experience, and sense of achievement.Written 11 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Plenty of walks down to uncrowded beaches. water an amazing colour in the sun. - johnnyroadmapNantwich, UK210 contributionsWhat a beautiful little town, the gateway to the South Island. I’ve never seen so many motorhomes queuing for the ferry!
We walked up path which overlooks the town and harbour, a stunning view on a lovely day. The town itself is very quaint with a lovely harbour side looking out to mountains beyond.
A great place to wonder and explore especially if the sun is out.Written 6 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It takes approximately 40 minutes to get to the look out. The views are stunning. You see Picton. Waikawa ad the sounds. I prefer to walk the same way back to Newgate Street instead of continuning to end. Really the best walk in Picton. I think I have walked it already 50 times and I have taken quite a lot of visitors and they all liked it as well.Written 1 April 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - quiller003Shrewsbury, UK290 contributionsan area that has been predator-proofed and restored with natives plants and wildlife, all doe by volunteers. You can only get there by boat but you get 2 hours there - plenty of time to enjoy the scenery and listen to the birdsong.Written 2 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - chrissie sBrisbane, Australia29 contributionsWe traveled in the premium lounge. The lounge was very comfortable, spacious and the food and wine were a wonderful combination of NZ produce and premium wines/ sparkling. The facilities were clean and only available to the lounge passengers. It was the service that really impressed us. We had the lovely Kerriana and the lovely little Paula. Both of these ladies not only provided breakfast mimosas but also destination information and a history of the region. All the marine crew we encountered were friendly and professional. The scenery going down the Tory channel into Picton is absolutely spectacular and like a day trip all of it’s own.We really relaxed and enjoyed our smooth sailing and cannot rave enough about the Inter Islander and its service.Written 20 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - rosemary marriottNapier, New Zealand39 contributionsThis museum has much of interest including a comprehensive display of the whaling history in the area. We were in picton for captain cook's 250th centenary celebrations but the museum failed to mention this auspicious occasion or have a special display for it. There was no children's area but my granddaughter enjoyed the pioneer life area without getting bored.Written 22 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 1Kimb0Bexhill-on-Sea, UK17 contributionsWe went into the Isite office in Picton to get some information about afternoon boat tours.
We were unsure if we wanted to do one but received very useful advice from Amelia.
She also gave us other land options which gave a good choice of things to do.
She also warned us about the change in the weather the following day because one of the tours would have left us exposed to the weather conditions.
All in all we were offered extremely useful information and it was a pleasure to deal with Amelia.
Thank you

- Leanne Culina-PenzaSydney, Australia837 contributionsWe used Omega Car rentals in Queenstown. The offices are offsite to Queenstown or the Airport, so we really appreciated the taxi reimbursement when we had to make our way there from the CBD. The shuttle from the depot to the airport was quick and easy. All in all a smooth process from booking, pickup and drop off. Would certainly use Omega again.Written 25 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SuenAndy1983Auckland, New Zealand81 contributionsWhile in Picton we were looking to do a wine tour but because of the time of year there was only 1 tour operating which was fully booked. We found A1 shuttles and went to enquire. They were very obliging and the next day we were picked up at pour accomodation by Tony. Off we went. He had arranged tastings at short notice for us and we were the only couple. We had a great time and Tony was really good company. Enjoyed the time at the vineyards and in the shuttle too. Thanks.Written 21 January 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Nicolette D2 contributionsAn absolutely magic day fishing down the Queen Charlotte Sound with skipper Mark, who was super friendly, helpful and has a great sense of humour 😉 Thanks so much for getting us out on a wintry day to give our lads a true Marlborough Sounds fishing experience, complete with us being lucky enough to bring home blue cod for dinner!Written 26 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
