Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One of the best cruise trips we have ever had. Lorene & Fred are both amazing and very knowledgeable. I was a bit concern if 3 hours is a long trip for my little boy but Lorene kindly provided some activity for him and made the trip more enjoyable for all of us. Food was perfectly cooked and very well presented.

Fantastic tour. Very friendly staff both at the office and Nikki(guide) and Dan(skipper). Great informative tour about the marine and bird life and they made it really fun. We saw King Shag, dolphins, seals, fluttering shearwater, australasian Gannets and other birds. Coffee and wine and biscuits was great too. We love that they partner to support local organisations to preserve rare species.

This was a magical trip where we were able to see dolphins and tons of native birds. The guides were amazing at finding the wildlife and getting us close to experience them.

A great experience getting to see places on Marlborough Sound that we wouldn’t have got to any other way. The skipper was really friendly and informative. Given the length of the trip (some 4 hours) the cost seemed very reasonable. Would thoroughly recommend.

Friendly and efficient service between Picton and Queen Charlotte trail, dropping us at Ship Cove and picking us up from Punga Cove 3 days later. Lovely views over the Marlborough Sounds and the crew pointed out wildlife along the way. It was quite pricey but there aren’t really any alternatives.

An amazing island with just the right amount of time to ascend to the summit and the incredible panoramic views. Excellent views of the unique bird species found on the island.
I was disappointed with the very short time we had by the Cook Memorial - the excuse that “we’re running late” by the boat skipper isn’t, I feel, good enough! Consequently it was a very rushed visit for everyone on that particular sailing.

It was a surprise bday gift - and an incredible one! We were originally sscheduled to cruise in the afternoon but bc it want sure to depart they reached out and we did the morning one instead. 1st of all, the Marlborough sound is absolutely stunning, and we had very calm water : it allowed us to see 2 of the endemic dolphins species present there : the dusky dolphins (they jumped out of the water for us!) and almost 10 Hector's dolphins they came very close, even swan under the boat! Those were fantastic encounters, + we got to see seals, blue penguins and a lot of very cool birds ! Very small boat with very few ppl, which made it all the more enjoyable. Overall fantastic experience, and shout out to Hanna and captain who shared all of their knowledge with us and we're very helpful.

As a wildlife biologist, I chose this because I was looking for a real wildlife tour run by knowledgable people and not something just set up to run tourists around. This is the real deal - a small locally owned company with very environmentally minded folks with a lot of wildlife experience. While one can never plan on wildlife sightings in the wild, these folks know their stuff and know where to look. I saw more endangered species in 4 hours then I have seen in my entire time in new zealand. Knowledgeable and very ethical in their wildlife treatment, I was totally enchanted. You can't do better than Nicki and Paul

    Great morning out this morning.
9am departure on a clear calm sunny Marlborough day.

We did not have to wait long to see the common dolphin . Just outside Picton harbour and the swimmers were getting in the water .

The dolphins came over to the boat and and began swimming round

We left this group of dolphins and moved further up the Queen Charlotte sound to see another pod . Then the Dusky Dolphins joined us and two seals .

Also got close to the rare Black Shag (650 of them now worldwide ) .

The E-ko boat we were was very clean tidy, binoculars available , toilet, commentary on the dolphins . Hot chocolate, tea , coffee.
Hot hose shower to warm you up after each swim .

Captain Paul and guide Josephine were very approachable friendly and enthuastic .

E-Ko Tours are very strict in respecting all marine /department of conservations (DOC) rules with regards the spending time with the dolphins following them and also swimming with them . If there are young / baby dolphins or Orcas then you are unable to go in swimming .

Very enjoyable morning . We were away for just over 1.5 hrs .

Definitely recommend E-Ko tours for swimming or just spectating the swimmers .

Thank you captain Paul, guide Tania, photographer Robb for this wonderful tour. I had close encounters with humpback whales, dolphines, seals, and a variety of sea birds. We did not expect to see any whale so deep in the Queen Charlotte Sound, let alone two humpbacks breaching several times right next to our boat. Onboard commentary was thorough and educational. Truly an unforgettable tour, could not have been better.
