Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

    Wow ….. just ….. Wow!!
From start to finish the Queen Charlotte Track guided walk was just awesome!
Fantastic, breathtaking scenery all along the track, accompanied by a great group of walkers, fabulous food and drink, outstanding accommodation (Furneaux Lodge was by far the best!) and definitely not forgetting to mention Jake, our guide.
Jake’s enthusiasm was infectious. Throughout the 4 days he was exceptional - any questions asked were answered promptly in full detail with the addition of descriptive interesting facts or information, stories and often humour.

Jake’s engagement / relationship with each member of the walking party was professional, yet thoughtful and caring.
Jake was an outstanding guide who encouraged everyone to keep going each day, especially when the paths were a little ‘challenging’ !!
Gary and I would not hesitate to recommend Wilderness Guides - we have made so many unforgettable memories on the Queen Charlotte Track and hope to come back one day to do it all again !!

Beautiful part of the world. Regardless of how you see the Sounds, by the ferry, walking or would recommend by Kayak. Dolphins swimming in the sounds.

A wonderful experience on the Hop on hop off bus. A great way to see the place in one day .
Did another cruise stop in the same month but this time enjoyed a great day visiting the shops in town. Waterfront brunch. great place to visit and very friendly people

This is a truly great hike with spectacular views and a well-maintained path. The distances can be adjusted by arrangement with a water taxi to suit ability

We had 2 wonderful days and nights at Lochmara, the staff were lovely and the serenity of the place even better. To look out on a peaceful and beautiful part of Marlborough Sounds was special. We stayed in a room with a balcony overlooking the sound which was clean, comfortable and had stunning views.

The restaurant food and bar menu was limited, but that is what to expect when the only access is by boat. The restaurant food was prepared to a high standard and nicely presented, the menu didn't change while we were there but again what else would you expect from a small isolated hotel? This small compromise is easily acceptable given the location.

If you have you children there are loads of things to explore and excite them too.

    Highly recommended

Efficient water taxi service over to the nature reserve. However the helm could do with some lessons on how to moor up as he appeared to make a bit of a meal of it in both directions!!

The reserve its self is lovely however could do with better signage so you know how far around the loop walk you are. I.e. can you stop and enjoy the view verses need to crack on and hey around!

This short, steep walk to the "hill top" look out is great. It takes approximately 40 minutes to get to the look out. The views are stunning. You see Picton. Waikawa ad the sounds. I prefer to walk the same way back to Newgate Street instead of continuning to end. Really the best walk in Picton. I think I have walked it already 50 times and I have taken quite a lot of visitors and they all liked it as well.

Lovely short walk just outside Picton township. Nice drive to get there too. Good signage. Little beach at end for exploring.

I did this walk over 4 days with a rest day at furneaux lodge for Xmas day. I got my bags moved each day with beachcombers which meant I could walk with a day pack. The first day from ship cove to furneaux was relentless drizzle and a lot of mud. Day 2 from furneaux to Punga Cove was the easiest day at 3 hours. A very very big day from punga to portage took about 6.5 hours or so and then the last day was hard at the start but then ok and was about 6 hours a a boat back to Picton. Loads of amazing views but no wildlife at all other than one boat and a few birds.

There is a small beach. Accessible from the road above. It is a steep but short track down. There are toilets in the bay and a very narrow sandy beach.
