- Faith B16 contributionsWe went on this Amazing wine tour on the 6th of Feb 2025. We had Stu as our driver/guide. He is such a character in his 80’s with an amazing sense of humour and a real character. He took us to three wineries along with three other lovely couples. He was very informative about Picton itself and the Marlborough wine district in general. Then he took us to a chocolate shop as an added bonus on the way back to our ship. The wineries tasting menus were delicious and the staff hosting them were very professional and super friendly. We went to the Forrest Winery, Farrington and one other, the name of which I cannot recall? The settings were beautiful and we had a lot of fun. We totally fell in Love with Picton itself and out of all the tours we did on our cruise to New Zealand (5 in total) this was by far our best! The bus was comfortable for our group of 10. Our driver and tour guide, Hamish, was an excellent driver and gave us lots of good advice for upcoming ports of call.

Glenn was a great tour leader - very knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining.

We were taken to 6 wineries, had 4-5 wines to try in each one, and a lot of insights into how most wines are made. The driver Andy was as an important part of the experience as the wineries - honest and hearty introduction to the region, some history along the way and chit chat and jokes from stop to stop made the time fly by! And stopped at the chocolate factory, too! Was a nice little cherry on top!

We scheduled through Bruce and Marsley which proved challenging with the constant itinerary changes from our cruise line. Bruce was in constant contact with us to make sure the tour was catered to our available times. We were lucky to have the most wonderful and knowledgeable guide in Marsley. It was a perfectly tailored tour that exceeded all of our expectations. All ten of us would highly recommend this team and tour if you are blessed to travel to Picton. We wish them nothing but the best with their impressive business.

Great communication and we were met by smiling faces who wanted to make sure we were happy. Four stops with amazing wines to try and learn about. The final stop for lunch (at own cost) had great food - the locally sourced platter particularly. I learned so much during this tour and tasted some of the best wines I've ever had. My friends and I had such a good time despite the day being rainy and chilly. - Tim W53 contributionsA most enjoyable day started with collection from our accommodation and then onto two wineries for wine tasting. Both were made interesting by the staff and were unhurried and after the second one we had a platter lunch. From there it was a 30 minute transfer, with interesting commentary from our driver / guide Maureen to Picton, where we met the large catamaran boat. The captain provided an almost running commentary as we toured the local sounds, which was most informative. After anchoring everyone enjoyed green lipped mussels, or an alternative plus salmon, all BBQ on board.

What we wanted was a local tour operator from Picton, where we were on a cruise ship, to take us around a range of Marlborough vineyards and to see the wonderful scenery...but not in a big group coach....and to be back in time to rejoin our ship..... We got precisely what we asked for.
We visited St Clair, Cloudy Bay and Forrest cellar doors and our price included a good tasting at each location. We also visited VInes Village cafe and road-stop complex ,for a non-included lunch stop, the Makana chocolate factory and still had time for a scenic tour....and got back nicely in time for the shuttle back to the ship
All this, coupled with an informative clear speaking local driver who was considerate to each passenger, (despite some language issues wit hour fellow guests - overall a really good trip and one we will repeat when next in Picton. Cam was not only a friendly, funny and incredibly knowledgeable host, he was also incredibly accommodating of us having a non-drinker in our group and arranging pick up from our cruise ship port.
