Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- SheldonHayley PAshburton, New Zealand7 contributionsWe stayed in the Wagon at French Peak. Everything about the stay was just incredible. The absolutely amazing hosts, who have thought of everything to make the stay as luxurious and memorable as possible. Such Stunning views in all directions, the Wagon, the Wine tasting that showcased their divine array of wines and complementary (as we were guests) platter of local produce, the easy to use hot tub was a hit under the stars in the evening and during the afternoon to soak in the peace and quiet. Truely remarkable slice of paradise that Simon and Carolyn have created, highly recommend you stay and experience what French Peak has to offer. Thanks Simon and Carolyn.Written 31 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

The person working was lovely and gave us some information about its history. - Curious034708493501 contributionI had the opportunity to attend one of the courses recently. The wharf to the plate. Wow what a wonderful day and experience. Our hosts Lou and Ant were so informative. I learnt a great deal about cooking fish and seafood and general cooking techniques.

Have an amazing selection of Quality NZ made Jewellery and aromatherapy products .
I discovered them online and decided to purchase from them for my Grand Daughters very special 18th Birthday .Their Customer service is Top of the line both answering Phone calls and emails .The ring I purchased needed to be re sized they went over and above by doing this quickly so it arrived in time for her Birthday and also wrote a message for us with the Gift and in the post within a Day of purchase . Of course I’m sure they can’t do this all the time but they show that they do their up most for their customers their customer service is outstanding and their products amazing . I highly recommend Fire and Ice Jewellers and will use them again and recommend them to everyone .

They listened, understood, followed through in a very timely manner. And they went above and beyond to help me, especially with my tight timeframe. - SD2606Christchurch, New Zealand2,452 contributionsBeautiful Barry’s Bay
The wee cheese shop stocks most of their cheeses that they make.
They have a viewing window that you can see their team making the cheese!
The shop also sells crackers and wine, so it can be a one stop shop for your treats.
There is a small tasting selection available on the counter.
Well worth the stop if you like cheese and if you are passing by.Written 3 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I bought two exquisite sleeveless sweaters (wool-possum fur-silk) at good prices. Wonderful beach. - Family FoodsAuckland, New Zealand292 contributionsAlways knew there was a famous fudge shop in Akaroa, so obviously you need to check it out.
Nestled inside Pot Pourri is a wee fudge counter, it doesn’t take up much room as Pot Pourri doesn’t just deal in fudge, but it’s a big hit.
The fudge selection is huge, and you could try the tasters till the cows come home, but seriously, just purchase a selection.
I ordered 6 pieces from their offerings, I did try their fudge of the day which was Baileys, and yep, it had baileys inside it so that was a good sign.
My wife ordered 4 pieces, she is GF so asked the staff member to confirm, which she was able to identify which ones would be suitable for her.
I like how the staff member provided a disclaimer about the fudge being prepared in a shared space that had gluten in it and they couldn’t guarantee cross contamination, which is great to see them acknowledge.
My wife ordered 4 pieces, now a point for Pot Pourri to improve on.
10x pieces worked out to be around $29
I get you can’t guarantee cross contamination, but you can have a separate slicer to use for those who are GF and a separate board, so you could minimise it if people decided to take the risk.
Out ordered we’re wrapped separately, so thank you.Written 2 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
