Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- NorthantsAquababeWollaston, UK323 contributionsVisited in February whilst on tour of New Zealand. Found on google maps and decided to visit but wasn’t sure exactly what it was. So glad we did as it was so amazing and worth a long hot walk from our accommodation!
A little disappointed there were no refreshments to buy, but think it was due to time we visited maybe.Written 4 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Have an amazing selection of Quality NZ made Jewellery and aromatherapy products .
I discovered them online and decided to purchase from them for my Grand Daughters very special 18th Birthday .Their Customer service is Top of the line both answering Phone calls and emails .The ring I purchased needed to be re sized they went over and above by doing this quickly so it arrived in time for her Birthday and also wrote a message for us with the Gift and in the post within a Day of purchase . Of course I’m sure they can’t do this all the time but they show that they do their up most for their customers their customer service is outstanding and their products amazing . I highly recommend Fire and Ice Jewellers and will use them again and recommend them to everyone .

They listened, understood, followed through in a very timely manner. And they went above and beyond to help me, especially with my tight timeframe. Support local - it’s worth it.Written 13 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

The wee cheese shop stocks most of their cheeses that they make.
They have a viewing window that you can see their team making the cheese!
The shop also sells crackers and wine, so it can be a one stop shop for your treats.
There is a small tasting selection available on the counter.
Well worth the stop if you like cheese and if you are passing by.Written 3 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I bought two exquisite sleeveless sweaters (wool-possum fur-silk) at good prices. Wonderful beach. DO NOT MISS the Giant's House, a brilliant fantasy in mosaics in a well-kept garden.Written 16 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Family FoodsAuckland, New Zealand299 contributionsAlways knew there was a famous fudge shop in Akaroa, so obviously you need to check it out.
Nestled inside Pot Pourri is a wee fudge counter, it doesn’t take up much room as Pot Pourri doesn’t just deal in fudge, but it’s a big hit.
The fudge selection is huge, and you could try the tasters till the cows come home, but seriously, just purchase a selection.
I ordered 6 pieces from their offerings, I did try their fudge of the day which was Baileys, and yep, it had baileys inside it so that was a good sign.
My wife ordered 4 pieces, she is GF so asked the staff member to confirm, which she was able to identify which ones would be suitable for her.
I like how the staff member provided a disclaimer about the fudge being prepared in a shared space that had gluten in it and they couldn’t guarantee cross contamination, which is great to see them acknowledge.
My wife ordered 4 pieces, now a point for Pot Pourri to improve on.
10x pieces worked out to be around $29
I get you can’t guarantee cross contamination, but you can have a separate slicer to use for those who are GF and a separate board, so you could minimise it if people decided to take the risk.
Out ordered we’re wrapped separately, so thank you.Written 2 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. AND they will go the extra mile to make sure you get what you're after.
I recently bought some slippers for my daughter's birthday. They had the size I was after, but I live in Chch and decided to drive over because I was nervous they wouldn't arrive in time if I got them shipped. The sales staff were amazing! They said they could get them to Halswell (via a 3-person process!) and I picked them up from there. Seriously outstanding service, way beyond the call of duty! My daughter got her gift in time, loves her new slippers, and I didn't have to drive all the way to Akaroa to make it happen.
Thank you, Akaroa Woolshed Gallery. You all rock!Written 23 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. If only there were some more choices for those of us who are not longer as slender as we once were but still want to wear bright and fashionable clothes.Written 12 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
