What a strange place! A bit reminiscent of Gaudi in Spain, but not quite getting there. Regardless worth a visit, it is colourful and fun if nothing else!

The road to the reserve was good and after parking the car, it was a 5-7 min walk to the hut/reception. A phenomenal achievement by a single man. Simply unbelievable!

Great learning about the development of Akaroa village and the French influence which still survives albeit with a bit of recent encouragement. Some great archeological artifacts and informative videos.

The lighthouse was just down the road after we'd done a walk in the park, so it was no brainer to go a bit closer. Despite it not being open, the male of our group managed a look around as a couple of curators were there. It's nice to see a lighthouse that isn't remote from everything.

A nice, refreshing place for an early morning stroll. Easy walking, but bit slippery underfoot at times. A little bit different from usual parks and gardens. Worth the effort.

Last minute decision and so glad we visited. A wonderful welcome, great value, beautiful views, wines and hospitality. Significant wine purchases made. A real gem.

Such a lovely little space to sit and have some reflection.

The grounds are beautifully kept, they were clean, well-managed and tidy.

There were some seating which was inviting to enjoy to take in the lovely sight of the roses and the memorial.

    Very tasteful and attractive.

My husband is Catholic and we really appreciated being able to go inside and to light a candle and think of those who are no longer with us. Beautiful building.

This little winery was recommended to us so we stopped in for a wine tasting and platter. Nice casual, friendly service and a chance to taste four local wines that were excellent. Their rose, a Chardonnay, Reisling, and Pinot Noir. It didn’t take long - 1 hr. Go visit it! The whole bill was $80 for one person having wine tasting, a platter for 2, a glass of wine for 1, and 2 bottles of their very lovely rose for us to take away. I will be looking for French Peak Rose in the wine shops back in Auckland.

Nice wander around the isite shop where the missus made a couple of purchases. Very friendly staff and spectacular video of the scenery.

Fishermans Bay is located on a working farm overlooking the Pacific Ocean a short distance from the small town of Akaroa. Plantings are extensive and include NZ native plants, Rhodendrons & camellias as well as a herbaceous border. Parking is available on site.

From quite a plain drab exterior led to a rich wooden interior. Such a special little church just down from the Giant's House. I was so surprised to fid this little gem open to the world and not a soul in sight

Wonderful winery with beautiful views. The owner was very personable and knowledgeable. We had a lovely visit and tasting with him. After the tasting we had a glass of wine on the deck and they even brought us a delicious snack. Watch out for cruise ship arrival schedule. We didn’t encounter any but we’re warned to be aware of their schedule.

A pleasant gallery space with an interesting history of itself. The exhibition on at the time was interesting but they will change. See what's showing and decide. Very pleasant person on duty.
