Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited this open air museum recently. It was easy to access it, Tram 1 from town, short walk from last stop.

The museum was half closed - only 4 and half houses were open for visitors. We walked around in the snow and still enjoyed what was available, it was very atmospheric and still many interesting wooden buildings, churches, windmills, all including some English description.

We were a little unhappy to find out that no cafes were open - sitting in a warm cafe after the long walk in the snow would've been important for our experience. But we didn't have to worry for too long, the last open house we visited was the fishermen's village, manned by Mr Georg who invited us to sit down to the table in the warm, he offered some history and interesting facts regarding the museum and life in Latvia and he also invited us to a cup of coffee. Never before a black instant coffee tasted so good !!!! Mr Georg managed to pull the whole visit together for us and we left with such a happy and warm feeling.

    Great visit, great experience.

    Admission via donation.
Slightly mismatched way around the exhibits but worth a look.

This is a fun little museum located on beautiful premises. Its purpose is quite simple, as it showcases fashion trends from centuries back, and it also has an interactive streak, which was pretty lovely. The basement display with music and audio was also quite lovely. The woman at the front desk was very accomodating and lovely, and the bar next door is so gorgeous, and a must-see when visiting this museum.

A sad stark place of mass murder, but an important Holocaust memorial site. It is an important place to visit for those interested in the Jewish history of Latvia, and the Holocaust.

This is a truly haunting and touching memorial for the millions of Jews who were murdered in the holocaust.
The memorial is located within a dense forest in the outskirts of town and consists of hundreds of black stones, looking like a gigantic grave yard, each stone commemorating a lost community.
Further into the forest you can find the actual pits where the Jews were murdered and buried together.
The tranquility of the place is in great dissonance to the horror that took place here during WWII.
Don't miss this important and touching place.

A really interesting museum with lots to see over 3 floors in an old building . Staff friendly and free entry, a must see in Latvia to understand the struggle of the population

The same entrance as the Jugend museum on the ground floor. A fascinating staircase leads you up to this artists atelier and flat. Fairly spartanly furnished, but giving you a good impression of how an artists life could be at this particular time period. It seems to be free to take pictures .....

We popped in here for what was meant to be one drink and ended up staying until closing time. The barman was really engaging with the customers so was easy for us to stay and chat. Didn’t realise we would be given the chance to learn and hold the guns etc. which was really interesting and just a bit different. One of the best nights in riga and will definitely return to this bar when I come back to the city.

We rarely take tours, because they are rarely good. This was the exception.

Probably the most engaging, well-paced, entertaining and informative tour we've ever been on.

Harris was our guide and he was really great!

Friendly staff, lovely products, amazing shoulder-massage 😍. Would be nice to have treatments at the same time (with a friend) but taking turns was ok as we were served with wonderful hearb tea while waiting!

We booked 2 x 60min slots. One for me and one foe my husband online. They kindly arranged so that we could spend the time together in same room and get the deep tissue massage at the same time. Super friendly staff and very knowledgeable. best Thai massage we have ever got. Even better than in Thailand. Please book well in advance- the place is super popular and super busy. I highly recommend this place. I would give 6 stars if possible

I can't praise Red Fox enough for our tour to the Hill of Crosses and Šiauliai! Jānis was an amazing guide, kept us entertained and laughing all day and so passionate and knowledgeable about Latvia, its history and culture - and also that of neighbouring Lithuania. The Hill of Crosses is a deeply thought-provoking site and tricky to reach by public transport, so being driven there and having a tour is a wonderful way to see this world-class destination easily! Would go on tour with them again in a heartbeat and can't wait to explore more of Latvia with them!

I would highly recommend if you want to experience some new sites outside of the cities. Laura was very energetic & the group is small enough that you get the personal touch.
