Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Everyone should visit this museum, which shows what could happen to Ukraine , if Putin prevails and the difficulties of small nations staying independent when adjoining large powerful nations. The museum charts the Russian take over from 1940 to the early 90’s and independence , with a few years of German occupation. Entrance fee is €5 and it's modern, with a lot of information to view. Also worth seeing is the KGB museum in Riga.

Very interesting museum telling a lot about Latvian History and struggle for independence. Visiting the museum one get deep respect for the fact that freedom and democracy are not given emtities but one have to take care and protect.

Much written in English but some parts only in Latvian

Interesting and moving collection about the holocaust.
Very friendly staff and information available in multiple languages.
    Admission via donation.
Slightly mismatched way around the exhibits but worth a look.

A good idea to house an architectural museum in 3 houses which were built in 3 different centuries and restored in 1957. The equivalent of the 3 sisters in Tallinn.

Wonderful museum - learning about the Lipke family is like hearing stories from an elderly relative, except that the family is remarkable in their courage in the face of evil. Note also the building's design -- a true mix of old and new. the architect behind the museum is behind many renovations around Latvia, and in Kipsala in particular. Strongly recommend.

I thought it was quite extensive and interesting, texts are latvian but leaflets in English and Russian are also available.
    I particularly enjoyed the recent exhibition with photographs from mainly the 70s and 80s;

This museum is located next to the Latvian National Library.

It is always great to see real size old trains. Most of them are outside. However, you can get inside them only on guided tours.

The museum interior is quite small but there was a big miniature railway. We were lucky to be there just when it was turned on at 14:30. It happens every hour.

As beer lovers from Belgium, this was an interesting museum to visit. We got to know everything there is to know about beer. The museum has a refreshing atmosphere and after the tour there was a tasting that was included. We got three beers per person and it was a very nice activity!

Despite it's not very big museum there is a lot of art to see and listen many interesting stories (it took approx 1 hour)! Thank you Alexandra for your hospitality and the exciting trip in "Pavillon du Collectionneur" !!!

A factual insight into the history of Latvia and it’s brave, resilient population. Hugely sad but carefully presented and you just pay a donation, highly recommend a visit to get a real feel for what the city and its people have endured.
