Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- CarbonChauvinist146 contributionsA decent museum, worth checking out. Yet another example of just how much was lost due to war and destruction. It's interesting to see just how much of actual court is reproduction.
Beyond that this place gives a nice insight into outlook of old Gdańsk.Written 20 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It gets better as you go through the house. Lots of information boards at the end which I think would have been better placed in the room that had been reconstructed. It was informative though.

It is flashy and the gilded 19th century monument is worth a look.Written 2 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Malgorzata12,113 contributionsThis tenement house is a historic tenement house located by the Royal Road in Gdansk. It is sometimes called the home of Speymann or Steffens. Built by Mayor Jan Speyman and recognized as the most magnificent tenement at the Royal Road. The tenement was erected in 1609-1618, according to the design of the architect Abraham van den Blocke. The facade has gilded stone carvings. On the front wall there are reliefs with battle scenes and figures of rulers, including Zygmunt III Waza and Wladyslaw Jagiello. In the central part of the facade there are coats of arms used by Speymann. The facade is maintained in the Flemish mannerism style. This tenement house several times was part of the premises of the residence of Zygmunt III Waza during his stay in Gdansk. It was destroyed in 1945. It was reconstructed on the basis of the remains of the facade in the form of a narrow wall with a height of three floors. Above the entrance there is a sculpture of Mercy with the Latin sentence "Love the virtue, it will make you happy, you will persecute her, it will overthrow you. " You must see this.Written 2 June 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- CarbonChauvinist146 contributionsFunny bit is - we almost missed main exposition... After you pay for tickets you are directed to temporary exhibit (absolutely a must, grab it if you can - it's about identity of post-war Gdańsk inhabitants). And it looks like that's it. There's no arrow indicating that you should go to courtyard and even if you wander there as we did you need to spot the door that leads to main exhibit (also interesting). So... very weird.Written 20 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

The coats of arms that have been preserved on the façade are valuable iconographic examples of the Pomeranian heraldry.Written 15 November 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Malgorzata12,113 contributionsThe building was erected in the style of Gdansk Neo-Renaissance. It was built in 1898–1901. The building was erected on a special foundation, the use of which allowed it to be erected in the place of the filled moat. The interior of the town hall was richly decorated. The building was entered into the register of monuments on April 17, 1972. Currently it is the seat of the Gdańsk City Council, and also has a representative function, weddings are given here.Written 6 June 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - leuveenUnited Kingdom1,284 contributionsOne of the many Gdansk's gate, this one looks sturdy and leads to the city centre or to thw riverside (depending which way ate you coming from). Quite different from the more local gates, definitely worth seeing!Written 24 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Neil KLiverpool, UK619,734 contributionsBrama Stagiewna are the remaining parts of the defensive walls and gate remaining from the fortifications built between 1517 _ 1519.
Known as the mammon stables ,the towers have been destroyed twice ,in the siege of 1813 and in the ferocious Battle of Gdansk in 1945.
Rebuilt post war ,now home to a co operative of Polish artists.
We were heading to some of the great bars near this tower and the tower looked amazing especially at night and made for some great photographic opportunities.
Easy to find on the Milk Bank of Granary Island,it's found on Stagiewna.
