Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Arrowtown is an historic gold mine town, with plenty of rustic charm.
The main street has plenty to see and quite busy with tourists.
There is also the river bed area to take a quieter walk.
Well worth a visit to this town which is about 20 minutes from Queenstown.

Impressive, detailed museum with lots of local history of the area around Queenstown and Arrowtown. I feel I understand this area much better now than just knowing it as a tourist destination. Spend 2-3 hours if you want to take your time perusing the exhibits. The most memorable is the medical exhibit which has dark humor that I loved. Wait until you get here to find out what I mean!

Worth popping over to look at for 15 minutes if you’re visiting Arrowtown as only a 5 minute walk.find out about how the Chinese were invited here to mine gold and then moved on to gardening snd settling locally

Beautiful walk through different scenery around the lake. The signs say it takes 2-3 hours but we walk faster and it was about 1hour and 40 minutes. Not too steep, no boggy parts, nice width and not dangerous. A must do!

A lovely round trip hike, which a short add on to climb to the top of the mountain. Great, easy to follow trail with lots of variety. You start out walking along a gushing river, then through the woods, then in open fields, and finally go up top for a 360 view. Lot's of locals on the trail. I'd rate the hike as moderate as there is a fair amount of uphill.

We hired a couple of bikes to ride along the track next to the river and the guys are very friendly. We also took the tandem trailer bike for our 4 yr old so we didnt have to worry about him getting too tired. Unfortunatley I was a little out of shape and didnt get as far as I wouyld have like to have but they will come pick you up so you dont have to wheel your bikes back.

We actually managed to combine Tobin Drop and Tobin Track to do a beautiful circular walk. We also did it the hard way! We walked along the Arrowtown Millennium Walk out of Arrow Town ignoring the signs to Tobin's Track but carrying on. after a few kilometres you come across a sign for "Tobins Drop, which takes you straight up the hill and I mean straight up the hill, it is tough climb for about 30 minutes but the views are well worth the effort. Once you get to the top you have great views looking down on Arrowtown you can also see the Crown Ranges and Queenstown in the distance. We then took the far gentle Tobin Track back into Arrowtown

If you're not an intrepid trekker or big track walker, go walking the Bush Creek Trail. Park your car in the car park below the Arrowtown shops and walk alongside the bubbling creek amongst the trees. Take a picnic, or some yummy food from the Bakery, and enjoy the peace.

These guys are great! Arrowtown Bike Hire is our preferred hire company in the area. Bikes are better quality than others we have hired. We hire for 5 (3 children, and a mix of e-bike and MTB) and always have available bikes for us. Super helpful with route selection also.

We drive into the Millbrook Golf Resort on the week that they were hosting the New Zealand Open Championship. The course and facilities looked immaculate. It looks a great place to stay and is only 5 minutes to Arrowtown and about 30 minutes to Queenstown. We were able to drive into the main resort, even though competition starts in two days. A spectacular vista.

It has changed little over the decades; an historic route that was ridden in emergencies during Macetown's early goldmining life. A great walking track that gives a taste of the high country hereabouts. Every visit to Arrowtown, we like to get back up in the hills for another look. Stout footwear, appropriate layers and shells. Carry for contingencies. Some fitness required, as is good route finding skills - a few years back, one of us came across a young couple who had taken a careless path down the wrong spur. Unless you are confident and capable, avoid if misted in.

Delicious small batch gin in many variations. Quartz was my favorite! They have been supplying gin and tonics to Queenstown marathon finishers for several years. The tasting room is a new venture and a fun experience!
