Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- KelvinNelsonNelson25 contributionsTook grandsons (20s) and work staff for birthday drinks for 2 grandsons. Akin to a "Mans shed", it was welcoming, relaxed and accommodated us well. Good range of beers, music and most of all friendship. 14 odd craft beers on tap.Written 7 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Very wide range with a special treat of an extensive collection of LOTR rings available. Magic experience well worth the time.Written 15 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Disappointing - but had a good look around - lovely glassware - outside our price range but worth a look. Sat and watched the video which was very informative and worth watching.Written 9 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - kiwitraveler92Nelson-Tasman Region, New Zealand218 contributionsRating this place due to the beautiful gardens and the guinea pig village. Great place to bring kids (& for adults!) Feeding the guinea pigs carrots and reading about their cute little village. Definitely something I haven’t done before! There is also a cafe on site and a large store that was filled with Christmas decorations. I found this strange given Christmas is over, but maybe they are waiting on new stock? The store was quite expensive as I saw a decoration there for $16 that I bought for $10 at another store.. They do have some nice gifts though and I would probably go back at a Christmas time to look around.Written 16 January 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Pn4412Palmerston North, New Zealand72 contributionsFrock & Soul is the little shop that has the most delightful discoveries everywhere you turn: bespoke jewellery from a local artisan, cool shopping bags made from upcycled rice bags, printed with the sweetest/weirdest designs, bright and cheery clothes, sassy socks and so much more. Jennie, the owner, is personable, helpful and friendly, going the extra mile to help you find what you need to be happy. I will definitely return.Written 10 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Grant HChristchurch, New Zealand154 contributionsMy partner & I were extremely impressed with the Icon Gallery. It's set in lovely grounds and the buildings themselves have a lot of character. The layout of the gallery interior is wonderful and displays the artwork to it;s best. The selection of art (all by talented local artists) is extensive. There is all forms of art in all types of material & styles. We thought most it was very good value as well, especially in comparison to "city" galleries. The sculpture park is nicely laid out and makes for a pleasant walk. Though there wasn't a huge number of sculpures on display when we visited, but enough to make it interesting & worthwhile. The staff were very informative about the artwork & artists.Written 8 March 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - laurajb1979Christchurch, New Zealand74 contributionsHad not heard of Craig Potton before visiting Nelson but we’re glad we stumbled upon the gallery. Amazing photographs! Especially loved the photo of the jetty. Would definitely be interested in purchasing something in the future.Written 2 April 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Miracle1 contributionAn amazing wonderful shop - it has been the heart of Nelson for years. I have shopped there many times and i wouldn't shop anywhere else - the loveliest staff, kind and helpful. Every time i walk in, it feels magical-just like "THE SHOP AROUND THE CORNER" from "YOU'VE GOT MAIL". They have lots of different books: childrens books, autobiographies, puzzle books, nature books, books about NZ and the world, cookbooks etc. so many more. It is a hidden gem and treasure in Nelson. I really recommend this shop to anyone who loves books or loves reading a good book. It is an inspirational shop and they can also order in books for you. This is Nelson - this shop and it always feels like home.Written 30 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alipa50Wellington, New Zealand1,627 contributionsVisited this small shop while on holiday. We were lucky to see the latest range of jewellery on display ready for the official opening that day. A very talented artist who has developed wearable art.Written 13 September 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - training1029Christchurch, New Zealand213 contributionsI’ve purchased Global Soap products for many, many years. I first found them at the Nelson Market. I’m surprised this is one of the first reviews since the trying Covid-19 challenges and the need for good natural soap. I was a bit sceptical after the business changed hands, but am happy to find that the products seem to be the same high quality.
I recently ordered online for the first time, and am very touched by the care they took for making my order extra special.
In the special delivery instructions I just mentioned my friend’s big move from an international metropolis to quite the opposite, to Blackball. She received the gift quite quickly and sent me a photo of the lovely gift wrapping that Global Soap included to make it Extra Special. I appreciate that they took the care to make just one of their orders as touching and endearing as if I had wrapped it myself.
Given the vast product range, I plan to use their online delivery service more often.Written 12 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I received the information I needed in a friendly , interesting and informative manner. The complexe is an interesting space , I think it was once a Georgie Pie restaurant or was that next door? All painted bright white and a lot of natural light , there are various rooms or spaces that can be split into smaller exhibition spaces all the whole used for one function . Run by the Nelson Art Council to promote art within the community, it hosts exhibitions by media artists , ceramics ,painters, photographers, students and anyone who considers themselves an artist of whatever category they like, It does have to be approved by the director and others though .
I consider it to be one of the best places in Nelson to view both established and emerging artists and their work.Written 25 February 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Glen manufactured a 24-carat one to our specifications in a very short time, and was very helpful and knowledgeable. His shop offers of course quality jewellery, but also very good local crafts.Written 17 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
