My husband is a bourbon and whisky lover so of course we had to stop here. I did not taste since I am not a fan but enjoyed watching him try all of them and enjoyed talking with the bartender (is this what you call them?). Staff very friendly. My husband really liked the Dunedin Doublewood so we took a bottle back to the states with us.

The bacon butties ($6 each) are a highlight. Excellent coffee, a good range of vegies, cheese, baking and other yummy local produce, and all just along the road from the unique playground and opposite the historic quarter.

If you are a fan of real craft beer the Craftwork tasting room is a must visit in Oamaru (and New Zealand to be honest). Lee-Ann and Michael produce some of, if not the best Belgian style beers in the country and it’s a treat to talk shop while enjoying their output (and superb local cheese). They are currently closed to relocate to larger premises across the road but should be up and running better than ever in the New Year (2022).
