Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Knowledgeable guides, fantastic scenery, and lots of fur seals made for a perfect kayak adventure! Additionally, they provided booties, jackets, and dry bags, so we stayed dry and comfortable throughout!

We had a brilliant time exploring the bay on our Kayaks. I believe our guide was called Issy, she said she was from Scotland and had not long been working in the area. Despite that she was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about getting us to see the wildlife, we got up close to some seals and had a nice paddle around the bay as the sun set. It was a nice steady paddle i would suggest suitable for all abilities. I would certainly return to do it again next time I'm in New Zealand and will be recommending it to anyone who will be visiting the area too.

What an amazing trip. We got to see a whale and lots of dolphins. The pilot and his commentary were fantastic. I would highly recommend this trip to everybody.

This was the one thing we really wanted to experience on our South Island holiday. We are a more mature couple shall I say (70yo) and were a bit nervous as had never done this before. Our guides Alex and Kerry were excellent, made us feel safe and were very well informed about all aspects of the beautiful surroundings and the how to's on zipping, so helpful. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, absolutely loved it although a bit scary at first, will be recommending this fantastic activity to anyone we know who is going to NZ. They also have another zipline on Waiheke Island off Auckland.

Even though we were unable to go whale watching, because of bad weather our guide, Sally took very good care of us. Sally was genuine and shared interesting information. She is a good driver and made the trip enjoyable. We had coffee, shopped, ate lunch, went to a winery, and even stopped along the road to view a seal colony. Even though we couldn’t see the whales, it still was an interesting adventure. Sally made the trip worthwhile.

We arrived in Kaikoura at 10pm in the dark on our UK Titan holidays trip all around NZ. Today 25Nov we had a morning whale watching cruise and were lucky to see a sperm whale on the surface and got good photos. The excursion was great BUT after a 10 minute sojourn at the hotel we were collected by South Pacific Helicopters and couriered to the helicopter base. Soon we were in the air and wow just wow how fantastic this experience was. Sliding off over the sea swooping around the sperm whale watching the circling spotter planes ,: this was just something else - a treasure of a lifetime. Then watching swimmers with dusky dolphins and not just a dolphin or two but a pod or two of 100s of dolphins. Then a cliff top landing a flight over Kaikoura the last road and our hotel - magic. My thanks to everyone involved in the company - this has been a holiday of a lifetime and South Pacific Helicopters provided the crowning experience that surely cannot be battered. Thank you so much for being such lovely hosts and giving us such special treatment in. Very safe and friendly way. Absolutely brilliant - do not miss out.

An excellent trip with Logan our awesome guide. He covered the safety aspect well, before we left, then we enjoyed his knowledge on the water whilst having the experience of seeing the seals close up in their natural habitat.

    Booked this trip months ago

So day we arrived in town and day before trip thought we would check out where place was as our flight was 9 am

The address is their office in the town. The lady in the office showed a picture of where to go but oh it’s bad winds tomorrow so might have to move you blah blah blah. Explained we are on holiday have other activities planned can only do certain days and times if we do need to move but forecast on weather app is sun and v light wind (yes understand up mountain wind is different)

So wake up next morning to message it’s cancelled and rebooked for a time we said we couldn’t do!

Messages backwards and forwards ended up come to hanger we will do whale watch but can’t go up mountain- that’s fine and maybe what should have been offered in first place instead of all this we are going to cancel

Pilot man was lovely saw a sperm whale pretty quickly and managed to circle it a few times before it dove

Moved along stunning coastline found dolphins and seals. There was a humpback somewhere but sadly hiding from us

Feel we did the extended whale tour which is a lot cheaper than the tour we booked so have e mailed suggesting a refund of the difference but of course no reply to date sadly

We did enjoy the trip but somewhat spoilt by the it might be cancelled then was cancelled then having to haggle to get some sort of trip

Fantastic day out. Beautiful trip from Christchurch to Kaikoura through the Canterbury plains and over the mountain roads. Stopping along the way to see the seals. Unfortunately, the boat was cancelled due to rough seas, so we were sent up in a flight that lasted 30 minutes. No whales were seen, but a large pod of Dolphins gave a fabulous display. We then had a lovely lunch at the King Tide eatery. On the travels back to Christchurch, we stopped for a fabulous wine tasting. Our guide June was amazing. Highly recommend the trip.

Pleasant sailing in the Lounge. Comfortable seating, nice buffet and attentive staff. Only disappointment was the lack of good views from the Lounge.

We did the helicopter picnic and landed on the snow topped ridge of the southern alps.
Such incredible views and a wonderful platter of food was supplied with a bottle of rose.
Our pilot was great and we were lucky enough to do a quick sweep over the ocean to spot a whale on the way back.
Definitely a must do for anyone’s travel/ experience bucket list

Our March ‘24 tour of New Zealand included travel aboard the Ferry. We were with a tour group by bus. Think of the trip as a “Mini-Cruise” One tip our tour guide gave us for seating was to head to the back of the Ferry on Deck 7 for great views and comfort. It’s a two deck level enclosed area with great views.

You have easy access to the top and side decks for ocean breezes and views. Dining/food/drink all at the front of the ship. Seating there is tables and chairs and great views as well. But you can take your food back to the rear observation area, sit down in you very comfy chairs and sofas and enjoy your voyage.

If your travels take you from the North to South Island, this is a highly recommended day to do it!
