Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had an amazing experience with Tangi and Tui this morning. It was wonderful to learn more about the Maori culture and specifically the Kati Waewae tribe. Their passion came through in the stories they told and it was so great to be able to ask them all of our questions and learn more about their culture, the importance of pounamu and the significance of the Aruhara River.
It was a definite highlight of our trip and we are so glad we were able to do this.

We took the Pancake Rocks tour. Efficient booking service and prompt answers to questions in connection with booking. Excellent commentary on local history etc. Looked after all members of the party very well and researched information when we had questions on, e.g., local plants, and provided us with answers. Would definitely book again with Rachel! A most enjoyable tour.

Ngā mihi nui to Hikoi Waewae team for the one unforgettable experience! We decided to take the cultural, historical, nature tour by the Arahura River as we wanted to learn more about the land of Aotearoa and their people. It was such a blessing for us to have this opportunity to walk on the spiritual land of pounamu (green stones); learn about the purakau (legends), pakiwaitara (history), and the whakapapa (genealogy) from the knowledgeable guide, Ruhine and her family.
From the moment we set off, she spoke of her ancestors and taught us of the land we were travelling in great detail.
The nature itself was...wow what a peaceful and stunning place to be standing in.
We missed the opportunity to take the full tour, however! There was so much to take back from what we had experienced.
I highly recommend the tour to anyone who is interested in the Maori culture.
The experience was magnificent, spiritually beautiful and was a mind opener.
We would be back to take the full tour next time!
A tour not to be missed if you are travelling the South Island of Aotearoa for sure!!
