  • The ranking of tours, activities, and experiences available on Tripadvisor is determined by several factors including the revenue generated by Tripadvisor from these bookings, the frequency of user clicks, and the volume and quality of customer reviews. Occasionally, newly listed offerings may be prioritized and appear higher in the list. The specific placement of these new listings may vary.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We did the scenic plus experience from Greymouth to Christchurch which included a served lunch. The journey is long (2:15pm to 7pm) but it went quickly thanks to the scenery (especially on a clear day) which is stunning.

We had two forward facing seats within a bay of 4 (the other two are left empty deliberately) and a table.

We enjoyed a meat platter for lunch and a two course hot dinner. Both were served with complimentary soft drinks/wine/beer/hot drinks for the duration of the journey.

You can also access a private outdoor carriage to take photos without the windows in the way.

We went one way having dropped our hire car off at Greymouth and that was a great decision. You can place your luggage in a separate luggage carriage (up to 23kg per person allowed) and you can carry on a backpack/bag of up your 7kg.

A great way to enjoy seeing the countryside without driving!

A fun experience. We are a family with 2 teenagers so this was a great option whilst passing through the area. They supplied gum boots which was great as it will get muddy.

It took us about an hour to do the Hokitika Tree Top Walkway. The walk was very easy. The scenery was very nice. For people that want more thrills, you can take a zip line from the top of a tower to the starting point. There is also a cafe for light refreshments.

Great way to see the west coast. The weather held up at each stop for us to explore. Having a small group really sped up our journey.

The ride far exceeded our expectations. It was a rainy and cold day but that added to the fun by making the trail slipperier and the river crossings deeper. Mike, our guide, was fantastic and kept us safe but excited with our 2x, 4x, high gear, and low gear changes as needed by the ever changing trail conditions. We highly recommend this tour if you're looking for an adrenaline rush.

This was the most flexible tour I've ever seen. If you can't find exactly what you want, just let them know and I'm confident they will work it out exactly as you want. I appreciated that everyone on the tour seemed to have a different origin, stays, and destination and was amazed they were able to keep everyone straight. I wasn't able to make the connections with other travelers I had hoped for, though, with all the turnover. The scenery was beautiful and I really lucked out with gorgeous weather. My name was misspelled at the train station, a small glitch that was easily overcome since I had copied my email confirmation to the notes in my phone and could access without wifi. The delivery to my hotel was a glitch that was not as easily overcome. The shuttle dropped me off across the street because.... there was too much traffic!?! So I crossed a wet road in the dark, wearing dark clothes, dragging a large suitcase and carrying a heavy shoulder bag in between the heavy traffic. Delivery to my hotel was a wonderful amenity, but I wasn't a big fan of how it was accomplished. Would have given a five rating other than that.

Yet another reminder from history that the deeds of our forebears took some doing and shouldn’t be forgotten. Well done to the conservation group for their restoration work

Did an afternoon tour after arriving on the train from Christchurch, collecting cycles, finding our Airbnb, a cup of tea and then the Brewery tour. Great tour with small group, we all stayed on after the tour and had drinks and dinner together. Good staff, very knowledgeable and friendly. The beer tasting was good as was dinner and company.

This was truly amazing! It exceeded our expectations by MILES! You’re provided with gum boots ,trousers and a coat…which you’ll need as you get very muddy /wet.

The views were amazing and you really go to the back of beyond.

Such friendly staff! Thank you for an amazing afternoon.

    Professional, efficient, and reliable.
Everything was well organized by Christina Brockie.
One week before our arrival, a storm caused a bridge to fall and the road was closed.
Christina immediately put together two alternative plans while keeping original plan.
She proactively kept me informed and provide subsequent updates regarding road re-opening.
