What travellers are saying
- Naomi WAlgies Bay, New Zealand165 contributionsWe spent about three hours at Kiwi North. We were greeted at the door by the personable staff and enjoyed hearing about the facilities. The kiwi enclosure was the best of the three I have been to around the North Island. Patience pays off and we were lucky to get up close view of the kiwi with the enclosure all to ourselves. The museum was very interesting and the bonus gallery of WW2 local history was fascinating. We enjoyed wandering around looking at the old buildings in the adjacent village. If visiting I would advise checking out when they are having open days in the village (third Sundays of the month?) as that would provide an even greater experience. This is a good family outing, made even better by the friendly and knowledgeable staff.Written 15 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- fandingoAuckland, New Zealand203 contributionsWe found our anniversary celebration gift at this gallery, and the added bonus was looking around a lovely space, with great energy and beautifully displayed artwork. The owner also gave us a recommendation on where to eat which was brilliant!Written 29 March 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Philip SDunedin, New Zealand206 contributionsWhat a great setting for an artists commune - nestled below the bush-covered walls of an old quarry. The place is very laid back and though not all the places will necessarily be open when you visit, you are sure to find things of interest and someone friendly to chat with.Written 19 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Didi MParis, France87 contributionsUnfortunately too overcast to see the sky but the stars and galaxies presentation was superb. Our grandies were enthralled. Highly recommendedWritten 30 September 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- PerfectStrangerNZTutukaka, New Zealand87 contributionsAs early supporters and donators we were very interested in what we'd experience. We weren't disappointed. It was difficult to find the entrance and some signage would help. But once we were in we were enchanted.
The staff was welcoming and helpful. We should have set aside far more time. We're both in our 80s so we took the lift up to the roof gardens and enjoyed lush plantings and landscaping donated by Guy and Sandra Bowden of Tawapou Coastal Natives in Matapouri. The views from the tower were the first time we've seen Whangarei and the Town Basin from this vantage point. Amazing?
We need more time for the Hundertwasser exhibition and Maori art.
Our only disappointment was the Aqua Restaurant & Bar. We were ready for lunch but whoever it was on the front desk totally ignored my wife and me while he gushed with friends about a wedding. As the former manager of a Hilton Hotel restaurant I'd send him to learn some basic manners as well as fundamental hospitality skills. I doubt we'll bother to return there and certainly won't be recommending it.Written 19 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - tsuki13Whangarei, Northland, New Zealand12 contributionsGreg Barron and Jin Ling make, exhibit and sell their beautiful award winning ceramics from their workshop/Gallery in Glenbervie. The entire ceramic process is done on site, from making the clay to firing the finished forms in their wood fire kiln.Written 13 February 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- ArtisteyesWhanganui, New Zealand110 contributionsDisclaimer: I have shown my photos and paintings in this gallery, but the exhibition I viewed had work by many women artists in celebration of universal sufferage and the range was really interesting and widely creative.Written 14 October 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
