We always look forward to talking to people and finding out about a place and have been disappointed at the demise of many of these sites. This one far exceeded our expectations. - JElliot32New South Wales, Australia3,961 contributionsWe had some time to kill on a wet and windy afternoon in Whanganui and found the Glassworks (with two furnaces working to warm things up) offered an excellent escape from the wild weather. There is an observation deck above the working area from where we were able to observe three glassblowers busy at work. - JElliot32New South Wales, Australia3,961 contributionsWhanganui's impressively large and domed Sarjeant Gallery in Queens Park has been undergoing renovations since 2014, and we were told it would be reopening in 2024. In the meantime, a tiny part of the gallery's collection is on display in a temporary gallery on Taupo Quay, across from the i-site. It is only a small site and it took us about 20 minutes to view.
