Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- John WJindabyne, Australia577 contributionsRiverboat travel is a relaxing way to go, but even more so to the soothing chuff chuff of a steam engine. It is a tribute to the hard work by so many people that this wreck, salvaged from the river mud, is now a working paddle steamer once again. The trip, for an hour upstream, only ventures briefly into the hills, so the scenery is not spectacular. Most of the voyage is through the outskirts of Whanganui and then between willow-lined banks. Bird life - there are mallard everywhere, a few gulls and shags, plus I saw a spoonbill and several harriers. The loudspeaker commentary is informative, and infrequent enough not to be an intrusion. The crew are willing to answer questions, and curious visitors are welcomed in the engine room. It can be cold on the upper foredeck, it's more sheltered behind the wheel house. I was impressed by the docking at the end of the trip, it seemed a demanding procedure, but the steersman dismissed it as routine.Written 8 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - gregwgtnzWellington, New Zealand25 contributionsThe gentle boat trip to Mosquito Point aboard the motor vessel Wairua provided an excellent way to experience the river. Sam the affable skipper was a veritable mine of local history, enlightening information and amusing anecdotes. Highly recommended.Written 12 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Flyer5986769 contributionsExcellent walk with Megan. She has a very broad knowledge and brings Whanganui history to life. We walked round a wide range of sights and got a great overview of Māori and settler history.Written 27 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 538AlanRWellington, New Zealand221 contributionsTake it Easy Tours are based in Whanganui, New Zealand and tend to cater for the more senior people who want to to be completely looked after but also leaving gaps of free time in interesting locations. At least that is how we found their Norfolk Island Tour. All organised from Whanganui to Whanganui and included lots of interesting activities on the island. We saw and experienced so much that if we returned there would not be much new stuff to do. Very good accommodation in a handy location and buses that turned up every day to take us to the next activity. You only needed to provide breakfast for yourself (Supermarket over the road) and maybe the odd coffee and snack.Written 24 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Value4moneyRotorua, New Zealand117 contributionsFantastic walking tour taylormade for 6 of us for 1 hour. Highly recommend our guide Kylie. We asked for only a 60min option. This was so informative and covered a variety of topics and sites. With elderly folk in tow was nice to stop were seats were and was not too far a field. This is a must do......Written 6 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
