Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Shawnee F8 contributionsWow we could have easily spent 2 days here it is so big with so much to see and do! Our preschooler had so much fun on the train and on the multiple playgrounds. A highlight for us was the Bird Sanctuary. That is a must see when visiting. The education center inside has lots for kids to look at and play with.Written 28 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Benedetta L8 contributionsI loved my visit to the New Zealand Rugby Museum! It’s a must for any rugby fan, filled with amazing memorabilia and engaging exhibits. The staff were friendly and shared great stories about the sport’s history. The interactive displays, especially the kicking skills section, were a lot of fun. Highly recommend it for anyone interested in rugby!Written 25 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kait60 contributionsGreat little museum. Friendly and helpful staff. Only had time for the bottom part of the museum. Lots of interesting stories and hands on activities for the kids. It was bigger than expected. Lots of local history. Good shop.Written 20 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Irene M3 contributionsThe staff were so obliging, knowledgeable and helpful . We asked if they could assist with information to take a train trip to Arthur’s Pass - not only did they provide information, they booked the train for us, then provided a paper copy of the booking and confirmation. Excellent service all done with a smile. If you’re in the area and need information or assistance - visit this great centre.Written 30 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RodnJudeCanberra, Australia628 contributionsWe hired a car and drove from Wellington (nice drive) to look at the place where my father in laws ashes were spread. Such lovely, serene and well kept public gardens - a credit to the gardeners.Written 29 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sarah CAshtead, UK1,323 contributionsWell you can't miss it! It's brutal (not as brutal as the council offices!) and startling and at night is lit up beautifully. - SoniaRotorua, New Zealand14 contributionsSo pleased I was told about this, however reading reviews on here almost made me terrified of going.
Yes there are 2 sets of stairs.
One set from Anzac Park is 250 stairs down then turn right and walk for about 5mins and there is another set of stairs approx 207 up. Apparently you can loop around and back to where you started but I chose to go back the way I came. Absolutely loved it, so did it twice, yes challenging going up the stairs but definitely doable, just take your time.
Absolutely beautiful views of the wind farm , manawatu river and river pathway and city. Great little extra close by if you want to do a stair workout. Wished I knew about it when we arrived I probably would've done them everyday. Not steep or scary and plants and shrubs definitely grown.Written 1 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - HypnoWarriorPorirua, New Zealand1,111 contributionsWe came here to try this place out as we live in Wellington but thought this would be a different experience. The entry price was very reasonable for 2 adults and 2 children that all could use the hydroslides and outdoor slides.
The lockers were a little confusing and only accepted the full amount even to renew them (and not partial renewals, nor the ability to terminate the locker to give to someone else).
Even though it was drizzeling it was still very pleasant. The water temperature was comfortable outside, but much warmer inside. The kids loved the slides (both of the big ones) and the hydroslides (pity it's only one person at a time, so our 6 year old couldn't participate).
The restaurant there made big meals (but a very limited menu) and the meal was more expensive than the entry to the place for 4 people with a drink. It's a lovely venue and lots of do to keep the kids occupied (from lazy river, to inflatables, to bucket's that fall, areas for adults only and for little ones.
The downsides were the changerooms that could do with a bit of a makeover and that the staff at the top of the slides were pretty erratic. One of them let my 6 year old do the steep slide 5 times and the other one wouldn't even let him do it. There was just no consistency and the their views didn't seem to match the entrance or height restrictions..
Otherwise a very pleasant day out..Written 28 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
