What travellers are saying
- Richard Kempthorne1 contributionThis was a wonderful experience. There was quite a variety of types of mountain biking with solid uphill, reasonably technical downhill, "The Steps", the Graveyard and wonderful West Coast bush forest to enjoy. The highlight was the open shower at the Rough and Tumble Lodge and pizza at the end of the ride.Written 9 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Simon DAuckland, New Zealand645 contributionsWe were a little pressed for time, so broke the walk up by driving from Tauranga Bay to Cape Foulwind lighthouse track. The track up was good to get the blood pumping although not a difficult walk. The only disappointing thing is I could not find any track access to the lighthouse itself.
Good carpark and toilet facilities here which were quiet when we visited. Great views along the way.
The full track is I expect a longer walk of an hour or two, but the walk to the lighthouse from the carpark is probably only 30 mins return.Written 25 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Simon DAuckland, New Zealand645 contributionsA short walk from the Tauranga Bay carpark will see you at a viewing platform where you can see some of the local seals. The view back to Tauranga Bay was also beautiful.Written 25 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Rigger ReidTimaru, New Zealand123 contributionsThis place is a must to visit, tar seal road all the way to the top,
was so interesting how they mined for the coal and sent it down the hill, stunning views from the top of the plateau
Lots of information to read would have been an incredible working site.Written 13 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Paul Mcgarva1 contributionExcellent service and communication, made the trip easy, it was very wet, however we were informed and advised about the weather, over and above our expectations. And changed our plans easilyWritten 21 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Kath1 contributionWhat a great morning. I took my 2 teen age girls to Tauranga Bay. We all did the beginners lesson. Mark was awesome - really clear and safe, and happy!
I'll be recommending this to all my whanau and friends. Thanks heaps Mark. We'll be back!Written 18 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Barbara CGreymouth1 contributionAwesome day out and really informative tour. - ChristchurchStewartsChristchurch, New Zealand294 contributionsThis well made track was a delightful experience of natural and historical highlights. The track is easy, yet scenic and the information boards are great. Accessible, short and good for a picnic.Written 10 December 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- simana3493Cambridge, New Zealand16 contributionsWe weren't sure whether the river conditions were suitable for our youngest 10 year old but the guides Marty & Bruce were very reassuring and we felt safe throughout. Booking was easy, all gear provided and we were toasty warm even in April! The rapids were perfect for our 10 year old not to be scared but she did have to hold on pretty tight and the white water was enough to give our teenagers a thrill. Bruce was really excellent at guiding and instructing and informative throughout. Great leap off the cliffs towards the end too. Good fun having a swim beside the raft but pretty cold even with thermals and a wetsuit! Great fun thanks guys! We loved it!!!Written 1 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
