Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Jayden BToowoomba, Australia46 contributionsI saw seals and penguins and water and mountains but NO DOLPHINS therefore worst trip ever. 0/10
Nah actually so good, would recommend. Also the trip there was perhaps the prettiest drive I've ever been on. I like the little squeel the Kea make. 100/10 for the birds.Written 13 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Pictures can’t do this place justice. If your cruise to NZ includes this opportunity it is the highlight of the trip.Written 9 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tristan BAdelaide, Australia177 contributionsA nice, peaceful place to relax. We were staying on the lakefront, and was great to sit by the shore and watch the sunset. Very beautiful location.Written 1 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TonyC_AustinAustin, TX370 contributionsReally neat place to watch a movie and with a really nice attached bar. We saw the 35 min. movie about the Fiordlands as we enjoyed beers. A must do for an evening or if the weather is bad.Written 29 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - inretirement2Invercargill12 contributionsIf you are wanting to celebrate any event or just enjoy a meal dining out, then this restaurant will fit the bill. A small intimate venue where you must book a table or miss out.The menu will suit all diners and if you are a baby boomer then the “easy listening 60’s music” will complete the experience. The staff are friendly and will help make you feel welcome and relaxed. The food is exquisite.Written 10 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Discover074908056513 contributionsA very long day from Queenstown, was beautiful they say Doubtful is the best out off Milford we actually prefer Milford to much chopping and changing transport modes and wait times.
Don't get me wrong it was stunning being 65+ it was to much.
Also we paid over 800 NZ dollars from Queenstown you would think they would have free tea and coffee on board the vessels charging 5 dollars just for 1 teabags I thought this was ridiculous.Written 6 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our guide Tanya prioritized our safety on the slightly icy roads and clearly loved her job. She was knowledgeable, made sure we saw all that we could, and baked us scones! The Milford Sound cruise was perfect; we had to pinch ourselves to believe we were in such beautiful territory. The snowcapped mountain tops and permanent waterfalls were breathtaking. The unexpected meeting with the endemic keas was so fun! They have such beautiful colors underneath. The early cruise at 10:30 am meant we could make stops in the afternoon where we enjoyed the sunshine and took awesome photos to remember the day forever! We were back in Te Anau by 5 pm. My daughters and I enjoyed ourselves immensely.Written 27 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- PJ PLee's Summit, MO16 contributionsMy husband and I were both blessed to enjoy perfect weather while in Queenstown which allowed for a delightful air flight with pilot James and 10 other passengers to Milford Sound. The commentary and breathtaking views were truly first class. We envy got to take a different route back to the Queenstown airport. The cruise in between was also a treat. We saw waterfalls, and stood under them because of how close the Captain was able to steer. Rainbows, seals, rare birds, and even a picnic lunch were enjoyed by all! Definitely time we’ll spent!Written 5 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
