Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had such a great time; the sun was out for the first half of the day so we were able to get beautiful pictures at the stopovers (which were plenty!) and although the weather turned to rain for the second half, it actually made the cruise in Milford Sound more fun. Massive thank you and kudos to Pam for being an awesome driver - she was super knowledgeable and we had such a blast. Thanks Altitude!

Just getting to Doubtful Sound was an amazing experience. Our tour guide Warren filled us in on some interesting facts on the boat ride across the lake to the coach and throughout the cruise. Amazing views of the mountains as you cruise out to the Tasman Sea. We were lucky to experience dolphins playing around the boat and seals on the rocks at the start of Doubtful Sound.

Jeff was a great tour guide. Lots of fun info as a few premium dad jokes thrown in the mix. He pulled over plenty of times for us to stretch our legs and take in the scenery. The provided lunch was tasty. The hike was a little shorter than I had hoped for but still was nice to have several smaller walks throughout. The boat ride was great, they booked us on a medium sized boat which seemed to be a little less cram packed so we had space to sit comfortably. We got up close to some penguins as well as sea lions! Stunning views the whole way. Loved this trip and would do it again.

This was an extraordinary experience. The advertisement about / knowledge of this place is not proportionate to its incredible ruggedness and beauty. Getting to the boat / sound is a beautiful journey in itself, and once you get there the boat is lovely, the crew fantastic and the eerie beauty of the sound unbeatable. Plus you get time: time to explore, time to kayak, time to jump overboard a while, and above all time (many many hours) to soak it all in. This is an expensive trip but worth every penny, I don’t think this can be missed at all.
I suggest visiting Milford first: a day cruise. It’s beautiful and majestic. And then you come here to sleep overnight to complete (or rather complement, because it’s never complete) your Fiordland experience.
    I adored these 24 hours.

Jeff is awesome. The weather it’s not the greatest, but he tried his best to find spots for us to take photos. he also used to work as a camera man for the Lord of the ring trilogy, which is super cool!! 😎 we are from Houston so we will definitely miss this mountain area and 3000 waterfalls.

The trip began with a possible delay due to avalanche hazard…. The road was closed near the tunnel.

We began, hoping that the road would be opened at 10AM. Keith was a fantastic driver, imparting his vast knowledge while we drove, with a soothing delivery.

We made several stops along the way for photos, and a pit stop for breakfast and hot drinks.

The cruise in Milford sound was amazing! Spectacular scenery, with hundreds of new waterfalls due to the overnight snow.

Totally worth the anxiety regarding a possibility of an avalanche! Staff was professional and friendly. Would definitely book this trip again!

Fabulous day trip to Milford Sound! Steve was an amazing guide; full of knowledge and extremely friendly. He was an incredibly safe driver which I very much appreciated! Such an amazing small group experience topped off by delicious banana bread and tea at one of our stops. Thank you!!

This place is pristine and quiet. It is a beautiful place but not as awe-inspiring as Milford Sound. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and super friendly.

Seeing dolphins was a highlight of the group.

We started the trip at Te Anau. Amazing experience from start to end. Not only the incredible sightseeing that you get along the way to Fiordland National Park, or the both cozy and dazzling boat experience through the fiords, but Shailendra, our bus driver, was the highlight of the trip making it a 10/10 fun, safe, memorable experience.

Excellent day. Guide/driver (Murray) was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful throughout. Seats on the boat are reserved for people on this tour and the boat was not as overcrowded as others we saw. The food you order when booking is ready when you get on board. This is highly recommended.

My trip to Milford Sound was amazing I absolutely loved it. It was wet and cold but we saw so many waterfalls along the way. Nev our driver and guide was great nothing was too much trouble and he pointed out so many things that I would have missed.
The boat on the sound was rough but at the same time exciting, the waterfalls were spectacular, this trip will be something I remember for ever.
I’m so glad I took the tour rather than tackle the drive myself.

We have travelled a lot of places but this was by far one of the best we've ever experienced. We recognize we lucked out with amazing weather, but even if it were rainy, the views are amazing. This tour company has the BEST customer service, they made sure we had everything we needed. Our driver, Shul, worked hard to keep us engaged and shared many tidbits about New Zealand. He was very good at explaining the drive plan so we could plan for bathroom breaks accordingly. Kept to the schedule and made every one laugh. We brought our own lunch, which was great. The cruise is breathtaking. The highlight was taking the Heli back. An experience we will always hold dear.

Nigel collected us from our hotel and gave us a great day. He was full of knowledge and free to share. From start to finish he made you feel special. Nigel took us to great photo spots on and off the main stops. So you weren't having to share with coach loads of tourists and could enjoy the hidden gems.
Morning tea of hot coffee and muffins was included.
Nigel made sure we could stop and take as many photos as we liked and we were never felt pressured to hurry up.

Wonderful day and tour of Milford Sound. A perfect way to spend the last full day in New Zealand.
