- Robyn G1 contributionWe absolutely loved our small group tour with Emma. She was so knowledgeable about the history of the island, the bird and flora on the island. Also gave us lots of information about the human history of the island and Rakiura and surrounding islands and the current story of the reality of life there now. Al has a very special talent for sharing his knowledge of the skies in a fashion that is deeply informed, always helpful, and full of enthusiasm shared with his guests. He paints the skies with a laser pointer and offers binoculars and a stunning view through his superb telescope. And the logistics are flawless, from pickup to drop-off: on our somewhat chilly night, he provided wool blankets, hot water bottles, and delicious real hot chocolate! The tour makes the stars in our galaxy seem almost within arm's reach. Truly a magnificently memorable experience! Phil is able to get people comfortable in a kayak quickly, and adjust things for all levels. Kayaking is weather dependent, and Phil's communication from the moment I contacted him to ask about dates during our visit, to calling me the day before we arrived to arrange the best time for our trip was excellent.
