Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well maintained trails through gorgeous wild island forest and beaches. This far exceeded our expectations. Plan to walk slow to listen and look for birds!

Just a 5 minute crossing but our ferry driver was extremely friendly, helpful and had clear communication. The wind was starting to get up but our driver reassured us that he would be back on time or close to it and would get us safely back to the main island after our explore of Ulva Island. He shared some info about the island and what it was used for historically.

We explored several trails around Oban and the outskirts of Raikiura National park, and all were very scenic and very well maintained.

Penny was amazing, such an awesome story teller & she was our final stop on Stewart Island before flying back to the mainland. Highly recommend the show. 🌞🥰

Really knowledgeable, helpful and effectively staffed visitor centre. Helen provided above and beyond customer service, providing RAT tests, advice about the island clinic and providing a full refund for a booked tour canceled at short notice due to our Covid.

Very good staff with excellent knowledge of the hikes as well as tides and weather forecasts.
If hiking, definitely come and hire a locator beacon. Reasonable prices for what they can do for you.
A good display as well with some local history, but don’t skip the Rakiura Museum next door.

Garden is full of native plants with several paths to walk along. There is a covered picnic table area, toilets and don't miss the viewing platform with great view towards Oban. We saw kaka, mohua there as well.
