A must do as long as you aren't afraid of heights. - JEllen5887 contributionsThis was worth the price and time. One of my favorite excursions I’ve ever done on any trip. The staff leading up to my trip were amazing and communicated great. Day of, for my first helicopter ride- the pilot was professional and gave amazing detail on all the places we flew over and added to the excitement of the day. Three landings: Milford Sound, Glacier and a remote beach along with flying over Milford will be moments I will recall for the rest of my life. Book with these wonderful people, you won’t regret it! True South called us in the morning to confirm the flight was a go (dont check the weather- all the apps seem to be wrong for NZ- it showed over 60% chance of rain on our flight day and it was clear as could be) we arrived and checked in and met our pilot Tanmay who talked about the conditions at Mt Cook and what we could expect. We took a beautiful 45min flight with some narration from Tanmay and then arrived at the base camp to get outfitted for the glacier. They give you boots- and anything else you need to have a successful hike. Another quick flight on the helo to the glacier was also beautiful, and then you get to explore a place that really you could only access by air. it was amazing to be walking on and sometimes through the glacier (ice caves). Truly a once in a lifetime experience not to be missed. True South made everything easy and worry free. - Christine W7 contributionsOur light plane flight to Milford Sound did not go ahead due to weather. Walked into Glacier Helicopters and they helped us with a flight to Milford sound. Landed and had time for a walk around. Return flight - landed in alpine snow.
Such a great experience from start to finish. Reception staff exceptional. Pilot (Cody) professional, skilled and I felt very safe.
