Robin our driver was very knowledgeable and kept us engaged on the way there with multiple stops in the park on the way in. The boat was really nice and the crew was great feeding us and telling us about Milford. The views on the trip are fantastic, and the cruise on the fjord is gorgeous. Lunch was very tasty. We had spectacular weather (sunny and warm) and I think that may be unusual, but it made for a fantastic day. The provided lunch was really good and the boat ride was beautiful. - Shubhra G4 contributionsIt was an excellent tour. The guide Tristam was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about everything related to LOTR and he really made it come alive for us. Obviously, there were a lot of LTR fans on the group and they asked him a lot of questions and he was able to answer every single one of them. I can honestly say that because of his passion, I enjoyed the trip much more. Tried varieties we wouldn’t normally try and was surprised by how different they taste! Shanay was an amazing guide, fun, friendly, and kept everyone safe and on track! I would say, if you can afford it, fly back in the afternoon - but you can decide on the day if there's still spots!
The bus driver was lovely and very knowledgable. The bus ride is long, but if you're prepared with a book or headphones you'll be fine. I found myself listening to the driver's stories/information and just staring out the window the majority of the time.
Milford Sound is unlike anything I've seen before on the whole planet! Recommend the lunch option as well so you don't have to worry about packing/bringing food. Try to pick the best weather day you have as well! We visited three wineries and in between she added comments about the area. She was most friendly and fun. The wineries provided healthy wine pours and a variety of wines also offering comments about how the wines are made. - Elsie T4 contributionsGreat tour. Our host was excellent and the standard of the vineyards we visited were very good. The wine samples and diversity of the wines offered provided a great day out. Each vineyard had its own unique samples and the lunch was of a very high standard. Our tour guide Annie put in a lot of effort to show us all the locations along with giving us some awesome movie trivia and taking a bunch of photos for everyone. The Hooker Valley track walk was just spectacular. Kevin was knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor and interesting stories. He made the trip fun with Lord of the Rings costumes and set up a nice tea with warm sandwiches and fruit. - Katrina S1 contributionGreat trip all around . Only one little glitch . Nowhere was I advised to 'check in' at the RealNZ place prior, so I had a bit of a panic at the start . Would have been good to have this spelt out. Felt very safe and comfortable on the well appointed bus and boat with informative commentary by the driver and boat captain. Pricey , but well worth it.
