Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great trip, amazing scenery most enjoyable. Driving and commentary was outstanding. The driver's local knowledge is very impressive

Great experience overall. Definitely a must do on a trip to New Zealand/Queenstown. Our pilot, Tanmae, was friendly, knowledgeable about the area, a great pilot and ensured a smooth ride. Views during the flight were spectacular. Highly suggest!

Amazing experience that is a must do in NZ and definitely with Altitude Tours! Neville was a fantastic guide giving us a ton of information while having a great time himself! If you get lucky enough to have Neville as your guide, don't be afraid to ask him about his world travels and the stories he has to tell! Will 100% join Altitude Tours again and if the weather is good, maybe do a flight back next time too!

A must if you are visiting Queenstown! The whole experience was incredible and I would recommend it to anyone. The coach was very spacious, modern and clean. The large windows and sunroof made it easier to see views all over and take in the amazing scenery. The driver was very friendly, cracked some jokes and you can see he is passionate about his job. You make multiple stops along the way to take some breath-taking pictures. It is a full day excursion, with most of the time riding in the coach so it might not be ideal for children. For the cruise I would recommend getting in early and finding a seat in the direction the boat is moving, otherwise you will see the back of the boat with only views on the side. Make sure to pack something warm and some shades as it can get very windy outside on the deck.

We went on one of the first trips of the day through the canyon. Our skilled driver had us close to the canyon walls, hich madefor an exhilarating ride. Of course there were donuts along the way, the kind where you spin round on the spot, not the edible type 😂😂. And we got a video of our ride emailed to us. Thank you to Malcolm and the team at Shotover Jet. This is a must for anyone visiting Queenstown.

Vicky our tour guide and driver did a fantastic job of giving us more info on the LOTR filming and answer our many questions. She’s super knowledgeable and fun! Also a fantastic photographer. The sites are super cool and Vicky made it so we had the places to ourselves which was very nice. Time was well spent and I highly recommend checking it out while in Queenstown.

I recently completed a trip with Tauck to Australia and New Zealand. Upon arrival, Tauck mandated that everyone to sign a document absolving them from responsibility if we get Covid. I asked the tour director the process if someone were to contract Covid and she said she would check with the corporate office. Guess what, there is no process!!! In fact she herself was ill with a hacking cough for 2 weeks. She didn't wear a mask, cover her mouth with a tissue or take any visible signs of distancing herself. After I called her out on her cough and coming from another trip sick, she admitted it. Yet her behavior to protect others didn't change. Within 5 days of the start of the tour many people began to get very sick, including myself ( even though I wore a mask every day). By the end of the trip at least 80% of the people on the trip had become sick. Tauck is asking guests not to blame them if we get sick. Fine, then ensure that your tour guides are well, encourage the use of masks and provide transparency if others get Covid. It's really not rocket science, it's common courtesy and being responsible. In this case, I do blame Tauck. I have also called Guest Relations, but am doubtful that anything will change.
Although, we are all responsible for ourselves, this situation could have been mitigated if Tauck had a tour director leading in a responsible way.

Absolutely fantastic and would highly recommend. We would highly recommend, we were well looked after and both the flight and cruise were equally as amazing. A much shorter trip than driving and if you can, I would suggest doing this over the 8hour return trip. Our pilot was great and made sure we all had a great time.

This was a wonderful tour, well run by Air Milford, who did a superb job. The flight to Milford Sound was spectacular, with amazing views of the broader area around Queenstown that you just wouldn't get by driving or taking the bus. We buzzed snow-capped mountains and flew over incredible valleys and waterfalls.
The aircraft they use are Cessna Caravans, with excellent views all round.
The ferry trip on the Sound itself was very good, with a special area for the Air Milford guests on the vessel. I imagine all the tour providers take a similar route near waterfalls, seals and out into the ocean, before returning again through this truly spectacular landscape. I had no idea it would be this grand and amazing - mountains rising 1000 feet straight out of the fjord.
Our flight back to Queenstown took us over even more amazing scenery, where we could see the cirque of Lake Quill with the stunning Sutherland Falls, which has to be one of the most amazing waterfalls Ive ever seen, tumbling almost 2000 feet down the mountainside. Then we flew over the bright blue Lake Erskine, perched thousands of feet in the mountains. Spectacular indeed!
The flight then took us over Lake Wakatipu, landing at Queenstown airport. All of this undertaken in the morning until just after lunchtime, including transfers to and from our hotel.
It beats the whole day on a bus and you get to see so much more. It's not cheap, but it is just amazing and, like a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon or Manhattan, worth going the extra mile in your holiday spending.

While rather a journey to get to Doubtful Sound, the scenery is well worth it. We had nice sunny weather which made for beautiful scenery and lots of wildlife. My favorite part was when they shut off the engines and 70+ strangers from all over the world put away their cameras/cellphones and just stood in silence for several minutes. It was really special to hear the bird calls and the gentle lapping of waves while surrounded by all that beauty. Everyone with the tour were great, friendly and full of information.

The cruise was a great opportunity to see some beautiful scenery, but really interesting to see the coal being shovelled into the furnace and watch the pistons pumping us along. Don’t fill up on snacks before hand or on the boat, as once at the homestead, we had a feast! From salads & veges to grilled meats, desserts and cheeses, our tables were allocated and food was everywhere (even the vegetarians were soiled for choice). Kids loved the free lollies tucked up on the back bookshelf behind the desserts. All drinks must be purchased (including tea and coffee, which was disappointing as you tend to expect a basic tea/coffee included) and the gift shop had some unusual and interesting wares. The shearing and sheepdog demonstrations were entertaining, and overall a lovely afternoon out. An expensive activity, but quality food and stunning gardens make the lunch more impressive than the cruise, with costs understandable. A worthwhile trip for the family.

Even though we had overcast skies, and could not do the sightseeing flight (we rode back in the van), we still found the drive and the cruise portions of the tour to be stunningly beautiful. Chris, who was our driver and tour guide, was cool. He has a joyful enthusiasm for sharing the beauty of New Zealand and some of his history. He also has a funny sense of humor.
