This is a most beautiful drive and the best way to get to Milford Sound. We drove one way in the rain and saw so many amazing temporary waterfalls in addition to the permanent sights. We stayed overnight at the campsite in the rainforest and then returned next day in the sunshine with blue skies making our return views spectacular in a different way. Almost too many amazing photo ops. Take this road rather than a plane or helicopter for the full Milford experience. Better even than by coach tour as you can stop as often as you like whenever you choose.

A brilliant walk ,well maintained and marked track .unlike so many walks this one delivers great vistas ,interesting alpine features without the need to go mountaineering or spend hours in forests.

Highlight of the trip - would definitely recommend if you do the Milford Sound Cruise with Southern Discoveries. We saw black coral, lots of different fish and an eagle ray! Felt like we were on a diving trip!

Were able to get right up close to the falls on our Milford Sound cruise with Milford Mariner. Also got a lovely packed lunch. A great trip overall. Definitely do it if you get a sunny day.

Authentic old tunnel. A bit claustrophobic for some. An amazing task completed with picks and shovels. I wish the exit on the Milford side was still the home of the cheeky Kea!

Side trip off the main Milford highway up unsealed road. The walk is only about 10am s each way. You don’t get that close to falls and view partially blocked by vegetation below where the viewing platform is on opposite side of track.
As per g m review further down I found underwhelming given there are so many amazing waterfalls around. If had done before rather than after Milford sound cruise may have rated higher. Would love to come outside of summer though when higher flows

A great view and every time I've stopped there has always been Kea (make sure you don't feed them though).

But in the scheme of Milford Sound spots, it's not right at the top, so don't linger if you're pressed for time. We weren't though, so really enjoyed having a long stop.

Its quite a long way to drive from the nearest town to Milford Sound, and most part of the road are single lane without much space for stop. It is nice to take a break to enjoy the open space at Monkey Creek, especially when we were travelling during Winter.

It was very crowded when we were there, as there were many tour groups also making their stops there.

Absolutely surreal trip! Boat was state of the art and very tidy, views were stunning. The staff were super knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour (even despite the dad jokes). Having only half capacity made the cruise much more personable, would recommend to all!

Our most favourite excrusion to date ❤️ loved the flights, our pilot Muddy was very professional, personable, he was reassuring and made sure everyone onboard we're comfortable and enjoyed the experience. He made us feel safe in his capable hands.

The view from up above was STUNNING, the flight paths were breaktaking, this was the highlight of my trip.

Once we landed it was a quick easy bus ride to the dock to board the boat for the cruise through Milford sounds.
Absolute majestic beauty, we enjoyed the cruise and the commentary onboard was awesome, the hot drinks were a welcome treat to keep you warm.
Sit back and marvel at natures beauty, loved the cruise we had perfect weather conditions that made it feel magical.

Highly reccomend flying there as the beauty from up above is phenomenal ❤️

Got picked up in Queenstown (from our hotel at 6:35am) and made many stops along the way to Milford sound in a large couch bus. Grant, our driver and guide was great; wry much kept to a schedule, advised on bathroom breaks and a coffee/bathroom stop. The cruise in Milford Sound was great. We got to see dolphins and seals and had a beautiful sunny day (which seems to be amazing as it rains over 200 days a year) as well as gorgeous waterfalls and fiords and crystal clear waters. We were so fortunate to have a flight back to Queensland which not only afforded us amazing views, but saved hours getting back to Queensland.

I was a bit annoyed after paying so much for tickets then paying 25 for parking seemed a bit steep. the staff were friendly and I enjoyed the calm sea.
