  • The ranking of tours, activities, and experiences available on Tripadvisor is determined by several factors including the revenue generated by Tripadvisor from these bookings, the frequency of user clicks, and the volume and quality of customer reviews. Occasionally, newly listed offerings may be prioritized and appear higher in the list. The specific placement of these new listings may vary.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Incredible area of the world! The national park is so beautiful and the cruise around the fjords was amazing. Definitely worth the day.
#Shelley was a wonderful guide! Her knowledge and history of the area was a fantastic bonus

Not to be missed experience particularly as it was raining hard so the sound and waterfalls were truly spectacular.
The bus trip and driver (Jeff) were great, stopping at scenic points and providing good background information. Lunch was fine too.

Fantastic tour. Great bus ride to the boat (included a morning tea stop) and packed lunch to take onto the boat. (FYI Fiordland Tours operate out of Te Anau, a cute ‘wee’ town and pick you up from the hotel. If you book a tour out of Queenstown, you have a 5.5 hour bus trip both ways! The Te Anau buses are vans, which give you a more intimate experience.)
We had an excellent guide, Sacha. She was local and knew the area well, not just as a hiker but someone who takes an interest in its economy, ecology and sustainability. She had some great stories to tell. We stopped to see kea (the only alpine bird in southern hemisphere) and had a couple of short walks, including Marian Falls track (has a swinging bridge).
We were lucky with the weather. Cloudy at first, but the sun was shining towards the end and the cruise around Milford Sound was stunning. Our skipper was knowledgeable (it’s a fiord not a sound) and manoeuvred the boat right under one of the falls.
To top it all off, our lamb sandwiches were the bomb! Lots of filling and nice bread.

What a wonderful excursion! We loved having someone do the driving for us since it was a 2.5 hour drive from our hotel in Te Anu down to Milford Sound. Our guide/driver, Raquel, was personable and professional. I enjoyed her commentary along the way. The numerous “pit stops” gave all of us lots of photo ops and a chance to stretch our legs. The boat cruise through the fjord was the highlight of our New Zealand trip. The scenery was breathtaking! I would highly recommend this tour!

    Phenomenal! Don't miss this experience.

Our guide's name was Neville (hope I spelled that right), and he was wonderful. Funny and informative, with just the right balance between giving us lots of informative commentary and letting us enjoy the views while listening to movie soundtracks.

I loved driving through the beech forests, and the views from the boat were stunning. I definitely recommend taking the scenic flight back if weather permits. We were able to see the stunning west coast from land, sea, and air all in one day!

I spoke with Nigel the afternoon before the tour, just to confirm. Nigel picked us up shortly after 8:30 and proceeded to provide an excellent guided tour, with commentary and a break for tea and muffins. Nigel also provided us with an upgraded Milford Sound tour by getting us on a 12:30 tour with only 18 passengers on board an otherwise overnight boat.

Several groups of dolphins are swimming along the boat in the morning for 45 mins. Amazingly lucky. The overall experience is ok. Food is good and room is clean. A peaceful and enjoyable tour.

Charles was a great guide, we loved the scenery all the way along the drive and Milford Sound was stunning despite a wet afternoon. Would highly recommend using this company, especially to avoid the stuffy big charter bus tours.

We had an amazing day with Steve as our guide. He was very informative
about the area with fact and figures. But we loved the personal touch Steve told us about life in the South Island. The laughs and magic scenery made for a memorable day. Would travel with Cheeky Kiwi again.
