Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great hardware shop with displays of the World's Fastest Indian. There is a cafe if you feel like a cuppa or lunch. Well worth a visit if in Invercargill.

If you are in Invercargill you need to go to Queens Park. A large park with manicured lawns and a large variety of plants. Be sure to see the ornate entrance gates. The park has a lovely 60s style garden pavilion cafe, a historic bandstand, a sizeable winter garden and a small but interesting aviary.

Great little drive. Can definitely see it being a harder one for caravan’s, but if you’re an experienced driver and know your vehicle well I’d definitely do all the sights off of it. Great views and tonnes of trails lead off of it, definitely stop when you can on the drive.

Such a unique and quirky village, I go here every time I’m in Invercargill ☺️

The owners have put such hard work into this hidden gem with decades worth of collecting..

The village walk is so peaceful, almost fairytale like with native wildlife and a few loose chickens following 😂

There is a lot of bargains in the actual demolition shop/warehouse with loads of unique items

Oh and a bonus! Friendly doggo roaming around, loves a good pat

We'd been to the Transport World Museum and decided we needed to see the Motorcycle equivalent. It's unbelievably fantastic - the number of bikes for a start, the number of different makes/classes, the paint jobs, the quirky, the dangerous, the absolutely beautiful - it's all just worth wandering and reading. Watched the movie about Britten and his bikes - wonderful - NZ has some legends and he's one! His bikes are wonderful to look at. And there were so many others that are just works of art. If you're in Invercargill don't miss going here - the whole family will be entertained - the kids we saw couldn't stay still - they just kept running from bike to bike and then back again. And don't forget to check out the posters on the walls - some are really entertaining. Must see!

We drove onto the beach for sunset and it was so lovely. The beach is so deep and long it never feels crowded. We took food with us and it was great sitting in the car/on the beach watching the sun go down.

It's a very short drive from the centre of Invercargill.

There were a few cars driving like idiots but they were few and far between, so don't let that put you off.

Another icon of Invercargill, we were lucky enough to find it open. It’s very much a functioning Catholic Church so it’ll be open before and after services. Plain inside it has a large rose window. It’s location is n

We stayed for one night and it was really pleasant. Really friendly owner welcomed us and showed us where everything is. There’s even a coin operated washing machine which was very handy. The gardens are beautiful and the ducks/geese are very curious - maybe they were expecting some food?

An on and off rainy day in Invercargill. Only there for 45 minutes, but we could have stayed longer. The building, which is not open reminds me of something out of the Sound of Music. A very good kids play area and a nice 15 minute walk around the gardens. There were quite a few Tui's.

When we arrived at the tiny settlement of Fortrose, the tide is out leaving the estuary low and ideal for the wading birds. We see plenty of Pied Oyster Catchers and Royal Spoonbills. On the way out as we are looking for the “ship wreck” we followed the road up and around behind the golf club, here there is a dirt carpark of such allowing us to park and explore the almost vertical cliffs, what sensational views of the rock formations and Toetoe Bay below. The cliffs are high, rugged and vertigo inducing. We see a Spotted Shag (Blue Shag) colony which was a bonus. The views down the coast each way were breath taking and we could also see Stuart Island from here. If you are looking for the ship wreck the tides have moved the sand on the sand bar and currently very little at all is visible.
