Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- GlobeTrotters4001Brisbane, Australia828 contributionsIt's a very easy short hike down to the views of the usual wild coastal scenery of eroding cliffs with stacks, arches and a tiny beach. The area has been upgraded and the path is very well maintained but long and zig zags a lot, but the plus is it's not a steep gradient and minimises erosion prevention.
On a windy day, gusts can push you about, so take care.
Best on an outgoing tide, so check the tide is at least half way to low tide or not more than half way on the turn, so that you can at least access the small beach safely.
Views are spectacular but unfortunately the quarry to the right ruins the view but it looks a little pyramid like at the moment. The stairs in the man-made tunnel to the beach is steep and can be wet. Then it's just the hike all the way back up.Written 2 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. As parents we walked the hill whereas the younger ones ran with their back packs - oh no not for me!!!
Bit of a shame that there is nothing to say you've achieved this - no certificate to buy, poster/sticker as a memento.... Just a thought as we would have loved thisWritten 22 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The trip was made using their all-terrain vehicles and the driver (Dawn) continually fed us information on where we were going and what we will be seeing. The initial site has pup seals only separated only by a small barrier we were up close and personal to view and never to touch. From there to the nesting boxes of the blue penguins where they opened the sliding viewer so we could see (again up close). Once finished they closed the viewer. All the while they commented on the different sites. Finished up at the store where hot chocolate, coffee etc awaited us. The gift shop had several items and all at decent prices. While visiting Australia and New Zealand, my wife and I agree, this was the best excursion.Written 27 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Roam264964464821 contributionIf you like viewing jaw-dropping artefacts, experiencing extraordinary and beautiful sculptures, reading intriguing captions that each tell a story, laughing, being startled, learning, exploring, and celebrating Planet Earth (isn’t that everyone?!) then this Museum is a must for you. Thank you Bruce!Written 1 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Stella DuncanDumfries, UK63 contributionsDefinitely worth doing in Dunedin. It's a short but steep hike. The views of the surrounding area are incredible and the organ pipes themselves are incredible to see.Written 14 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mkAuckland, New Zealand11 contributionsI did all 3 escape rooms at the Prison and the Magic themed one at the Savoy.
Magic Themed one at the Savoy was good, pretty stock standard escape room experience, fun magic theme.
Of the 3 at the prison, the prison one was excellent, but we were warned not to argue in there because some people treat these games like a competition but they are all team building and co-operation exercises. This was solid advice, it kept me from becoming frustrated because I focused on listening to my team mate for clues and sending clues back to him to help him solve the ones in his room too, for the prison one teamwork is key. Russian spy one is a bit difficult if you arent super used to geography puzzles and the medical room one was good too, pretty standard. I would do the prison one again with someone I am good at communicating with, and medical room and magic one with just about anyone, they are pretty standard ones good fun. Russian spy one, either ask for lots of clues or go with a team of some athletic + some geographically knowledgeable mates. Russian room is likely to be more fun with more members and co-operation. with 2 people and some clues it was hard but not impossible. Zoey was a champion, I think she took extra work shifts so we could play them all during our limited time in Dunedin.Written 3 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We had an amazing day, our guide was fantastic and the peninsula is beautiful!! We got to see 6 young albatrosses, sea lions, seals, lots of sea birds and even the elusive Hoihi/yellow eyed penguin. It was genuinely one of the best days ever, seeing such amazing and rare wildlife!Written 29 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - yvonne hMansfield, Australia28 contributionsWe went to Dunedin on our recent Princess cruise and had booked the Escape artists for x6 of us to do after our e-bike ride. What a wonderful experience! Only x1 of us had previously done one so the owner/operator patiently walked us through. We did the Nova one in 57mins 😆. Highly highly recommend this escape room. It was great fun, challenging and something very different. Well done 👍Written 4 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ella F1 contributionMy husband and I booked the standard peninsula encounter. Our guide, Chris, was extremely knowledgeable about the area’s wildlife, particularly albatrosses as he managed the Royal Albatross Center for many years and grew up on the peninsula. He was kind and patient with all of our questions and helped our group understand the steps we needed to take to view the local wildlife respectfully. It was a great outing and we would definitely send our friends!Written 20 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Chris G1 contributionWe had an excellent family trip over the Otago harbour, up the coast to Moeraki, inland to the Maniototo before coming back to the base via middlemarch.
A special trip with our elderly mum, Paul the pilot was excellent and provided good commentary on points of interest.
Kirsty was excellent to deal with, and her communication was fantastic.
She even managed to provide great weather.
A once in a lifetime experience - we thoroughly enjoyed it.Written 2 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
