Such an easy and beautiful drive with stunning scenery. And I got to see Seal Lions lazing on the beach. AMAZING

Sadly I didn’t have enough time to fully explore the gardens so intend returning. It’s unbelievable what a family has achieved in reviving this stunning property. It’s important to explore both the castle and the gardens.

Beautiful smooth track descending down to the point. Note: not for the weak heart on the way up lol Take your time just strolling both ways along the track, take in the views! THEY'RE AMAZING!!
Getting to walk through the tunnel down onto the private beach amoung some massive boulders was worth my dying thighs & lungs (be sure to be aware of tides if going down to the beach) lol even more so if you have read the history behind it :)
Take caution if you go on a slightly windier day, wear comfy foot/grippy footwear & spray jacket if you plan to go near the edge because the waves send buckets of sea spray up & over if the winds heading the right direction.
All in all, Stunning place to visit if ever in the Dunedin area!

Maia the kaitiaki/guide was a wealth of knowledge and passion for ecology and this experience. We were lucky to see the release of two penguins after they had spent time recovering at the centre,a yellow crested penguin in recovery, sea lions, little penguins nesting in their boxes, a male penguin surf in then make his way to his nest and incredible sunset scenes over the Moana.

Wonderful old character home presented beautifully. The tours are very informative, conducted by volunteers, and truly worthwhile.

Kaka's, Takahe's, black robins all only two metres close to me! So very stunning to walk along the pathways and see nature at its best. Friendly staff and my kids absolutely love it.

If you are wanting panoramic views of Dunedin and the Otago Peninsula, drive to the top of Signal Hill. There is parking at the top and an extensive lookout area. There is a large monument with 2 bronze statues commemorating the NZ Centennial.

We took the Argo tour as a family - 2 adults, 2 young kids (6&8). Had the most amazing experience - up close encounters with seal & penguins as well as world class views and expert tourists. So brilliant! Worth every penny. Highly recommended! Plus going in an Argo was fun!!!!

Walked out and watched the sea lions finding their lunch. Enjoyed the vistas over to Taiaroa Head where we had seen the albatross colony day before. Well worth the drive out from Dunedin

As a walk this is pleasant, but a word of caution, this should only be done by the sure footed.
The track in is dirt and stone and has some steep parts, so even with a little precipitation this track is quite slippery: wear good shoes.
Secondly, the very last section to the organ pipes is a steep climb over stones and rocks: not for the faint hearted or kids.
Parking is very limited at the start too, maybe for 4-6 cars only, depending on how they are parked!

Gardens are marvellous - what a lovely wander of exploration! Cafe was lovely - only reason for 4 stars was the slightly limited menu which was a bit more restaurant-y. The ginger crunch slice was yummy though and seemed to be home made!

Went for a tour called Penguins and Peninsula - where we went to explore the Otago peninsula wild side, followed by the Penguin place where we could see yellow eyed penguins coming back from their fishing trip.
We were lucky to have seen many species of birds such as kingfishers, pukekos, native ducks - and some marine mammals (sea lion and seal).
Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly; let us choose how we would spend our time in the first part of the trip.
    Superb excursion, highly recommended.

We had Laura as our guide and she picked us up from the octagon. Very knowledgeable and passionate about the restoration of the peninsula and of the animals and she really loves sharing her knowledge. While we didn’t see any albatross due to timing and weather, seeing fur seals in the wild, just hanging out on rocks, yellow eyes penguins and sea lions on the beach made this unforgettable. Amazing views and wildlife. Would recommend to anyone. Pack warmly though as the wind can get up

Awesome full day tour. Thanks to driver Rob for his extensive local knowledge! Wonderful experience to see baby albatrosses in the wild (thanks Otago Peninsula Trust) and the rehabilitating little yellow-eyed penguin (thanks Penguin Place). Great experience to be on Allan's Beach and see the wide variety of birdlife on the Otago Peninsula. Will come back again.
