Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- k sNew York City, NY532 contributionsThe garden is well laid out in naturalized settings. The highlight is the walk thru an actual forest of Rhododendrens. Large trees of them with twisted branches bursting with color!Written 24 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - london057Dublin, OH683 contributionsVery nice Chinese garden 🪴 . Another the buildings at this garden 🪴 reminded me of the buildings of at the China 🇨🇳 Pavilion at Epcot Center at Walt Disney World 🌍 in Florida . Lastly these gardens also remind of the Japanese Tea 🍵 Gardens in both San Francisco and Buenos Aires.Written 22 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Penny JChristchurch, New Zealand19 contributionsPopped in here for some refreshments while we were doing the cycle trail around Dunedin harbour, this in in MacAndrews Bay. What a beautiful setting. - DJandRWanaka, New Zealand452 contributionsWhat a great walk, right in the middle of the City, great collection of tracks with the native bush and birds. Variety of tracks depending on time allowed. Would be good in the summer with all the picnic spots, bbq and play areas.Written 5 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rick MWellington, New Zealand1,212 contributionsThis is the outcome of years of hard work by the local Lions Club, turning the old quarry into a fabulous rhododendron garden. Stunning views down over the town centre and the port, and lots of historical information. We were there in April but it would be stunning when all the rhodos are out in flower! Highly recommended.Written 30 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- KiwigoldfishWellington17 contributionsOne of the most fiendish mini golf courses I have played. But definitely well set up and fun. Wal's Plant and Fun land is a couple of km off the highway to the airport. It's a great place to stop for a cuppa, and a round of mini golf on your way out of Dunedin.Written 1 November 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PBPGYorkshire, UK8,501 contributionsThe gardens are dominated by the city's main war memorial, the 28-metre (92 ft) tall eight-sided column of Dunedin Cenotaph, built between 1924 and 1927. A superb structure in the centre In a central position in Queens Gardens the statue is in very good condition. Erected in 2008.Written 21 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
