I cannot rate this tour highly enough! Lucy was an incredible guide, and extremely kind! We were delayed due to weather for hours, and she was kind enough to wait for us to arrive and rearranged the schedule to include the best things we could do in the amount of time we had! We were able to see so much of Dunedin, including the highlights of the city and wildlife! Thank you Lucy!

Ben, my knowledgable guide started me off with Baldwin Street, then down Otago Uni and around the beautiful Peninsula before stopping at Larnach. He left me a tip to go up the castle tower and the 360 view was simply breathtaking. He then drove around the inlets and I enjoyed scenic views of the waterfronts. At the albatross colony, luck wasnt with us that day due to the strong winds so we caught sight of only a couple of fleeting ones over the hill. At the Penguin Place, we made many attempt-stops to look for them. Saw one hiding inside their nest and another further out in the open via binoculars. Spotted seals along the way too. At the last point, there had to be a bit of waiting to see the penguins in action. Ben was patient and wanted tourists to get the most out of the tour. Unfortunately I had an appointment to go to so we didnt stay long enough to catch sight of them. Good excuse to come back on this tour in future with family/friends when the borders reopen. Definitely gotta see more of the albatross and penguins again!

Our tour guide was amazing! Trill was funny, enthusiastic and filled with great information as well as highlights of back doors we would never have found on our own. The day was cool and sunny. She even had for us to see a bit of the octagon square and do a bit of shopping. Fabulous!

This was a spectacular tour of the countryside, city, and Castle Garden. Asta was our driver. She was extremely helpful and very descriptive of the various locations and sceneries. The tour started from the seaport which was our pickup location. We were driven through the city of Dunedin and into the countryside which was full of spectacular views. Due to a very small group, Asta provided a very personable tour by stopping at various view points and for that postcard photoshoot. Always opt for the private tour so that you can enjoy Dunedin at its best.THANKS ASTA!!!!

Looking at the stars, identifying constellations is blended with story telling and song. Kylie curates this experience to the last detail and makes you feel special.

Monarch has taken customer service to a new level!!

Last August i booked three places on the City to Sea tour through one of the on-line booking agencies. In November the agency emailed me cancelling the booking saying Monarch were 'no longer running on that day.'
So last week whilst in Dunedin, i was in the I-Centre and to my surprise saw the same tour advertised. To cut a long story short, i phoned Monarch who told me the agency had cancelled the booking saying the customer (me) had cancelled!!. So although the cancellation was through no fault of their own, Monarch put on a special "City to Sea"trip for the three of us. How incredible is that??
So with the boat to ourselves, we enjoyed the most amazing trip out to see the sea life and in particular the Albatrosses. What a wonderful sight they were. In the strong winds, the birds were having a wonderful time gliding over the headland Truly a wonderful spectacle.
Thanks to Buddy and Tim for their hosting us on the boat and to Monarch as a whole for their unbelievable level of customer service. Thank you so much.

Our Tour guide, Ron, was very information; however, the weather was not coorperating with us. It started of with some drizzle as we went to see the the steepest street in the world, and then to Anzac Square where we saw the beautiful City Hall of Dunedin. The rain started to fall as we drove to Larnach Castle where we had coffee and snacks, before going on the tour of the castle. The castle was very nice, but it was not very big. The story of the family, as narrated by the castle guide was more intriguing and interesting than the tour itself. Then off to the Speight's beer brewery and Ron (from Speight's) took us on a tour of the brewery and showed us how the beer was made. We then had a treat sampling the various beers that they brewed. The trip was quite enjoyable in spite of the rain.

Chris picked us up from the ship in a minibus. As he’s lived in Dunedin for a number of years he was very knowledgeable about the area. We went to see the sea lions on a lovely beach, saw stunning scenery and went to the old station and the steepest street. Chris lived in Scotland before NZ so told us of a great pub (The Duke of Wellington) that sold loads of UK ales-great tip thanks Chris 👍🏻 Lovely trip would definitely recommend.

Great tour. Loved the drive along the peninsula to Larnach''s Castle, plenty of time for house tour and good look at gardens and to have lunch. Continued along peninsula winding our way down to Weller's Bay to meet the boat. Beautiful blue skies, warm weather cruising out of the harbour out to sea. Amazingly we saw multiple albatross soaring around the boat, dolphins, blue penguins, sea lions and fur seals. Could see albatross nesting on the cliff and fur seals lounging on the rocks. All the time a running commentary was made by the skipper Buddy. Neil also was pointing out various birds and Elliott gave a lot of interesting information as we cruised back up the harbour to Dunedin. Well worth including this tour in your Dunedin stay.

Our driver was great - very knowledgeable and super nice. He is a local so has history in Dunedin and surrounding area. Bus very comfortable and well maintained.

Castle is awesome - gardens and gounds beautiful and extensive, castle is awesome with a very interesting history. Glad someone is restoring and maintaining the place.

The Chinese gardens and museum are a miss - very small and not really that interesting. Go for the castle and viewing of the Train station!
