What travellers are saying
- Juliea1928Tauranga, New Zealand71 contributionsI have always loved the historic buildings of Christchurch and these lovely buildings have been restored and the ambience is so lovely.Right on the edge of town and accross from the botanic gardens it is a place where you can enjoy the old Christchurn but also take in the new Christchurch near by which is also modern and a credit to ChristchurchWritten 2 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Sus1952Palmerston North, New Zealand1,914 contributionsThis is an amazing library. It is so spacious and beautifully designed. I was impressed by the various activities available for children such as massive quantities of Duplo and Lego. We were fortunate to be told about the balconies on the fifth floor overlooking the cathedral. A most wonderful library.Written 27 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- jobst56Hamburg, Germany1,707 contributionsArriving from a long-haul flight to NZ - and knowing Kiwi hospitality and friendliness - we were slightly disappointed. The lady selling us our metro card - great thing! - spoke English with a very strong accent and didn't smile.Written 3 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- djmcc50177Christchurch, New Zealand255 contributionsWe cycled across out to Halswell from Bishopdale to try these excellent Facilities and were impressed to say the least.
We arrived about 10-15a.m. only to find that the Pools were closed, so a trap for newbies.
The staff who informed us of the 11-30 opening hours came up with suggestions as to what we could do over the hour and a bit remaining wait time until the 11-30 a.m. opening.
We went and had a look around the spacious and great facilities in the Library, again impressive.
After an hour of biking around the area, we came back at opening time and tried out the pool and then, at 74, I tried a Hydro slide out for a first time ever with some trepidation.
And what fun that was, so we had to try it out a second time. Water up the nose and a mouthful of water but great fun for oldies!
I guess there was close to 65 years difference in age between us and all the youngsters in the queque.
For me, The Te HApua Halswell Centre has set a benchmark for the future in our City Suburban Developments.
I loved it and now looking forward to going back with my grandies soon.Written 8 February 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - FrequentOzTravellerSydney, Australia52 contributionsI am a regular flyer between Australia and New Zealand so have had the opportunity to visit most of the departure lounges on offer.
This is one of the best lounges both in NZ and when compared to Australian offerings.
It is spacious with different seating and eating areas.
The food is varied and good quality. Both soft and 'hard' drinks are available and the wi-fi is quick.
Above all the staff are friendly and attentive - quickly removing used plates and glasses and stopping to chat from time to time (I was in there for over 3 hours).
Clearly better than the Qantas Lounge in AKL and on par with Qantas/Air NZ lounges in Wellington.Written 19 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
