What travellers are saying
- mandm298Auckland, New Zealand137 contributionsFound this place totally by accident finding ourselves at a loose end and needing something to do. It’s a short drive from the City and once you are in the grounds it’s easy to navigate your way around. Just follow the boardwalk and there is no need to keep looking at the map provided. The reserve is split into three regions and each has something to offer for everyone. We loved the flow of the place and it was very well laid out. From the first viewing of the eels as you enter to finishing off with the kiwi it was great. The kea were one of our favourites as we got to sit and watch them being cheeky they even tried pecking at my wife’s handbag at one point but were magical to watch flying around. The kiwi house was also fascinating with I think four of them snuffling and scurrying around we could have stayed for hours watching them as at times you were so close to them. Even if you don’t have kids but love a little bush walk and wildlife, this is definitely worth the admission price.Written 19 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Kim HChristchurch, New Zealand77 contributionsWe live 5 minutes away so go here for a walk most days . Several different tracks to choose from . We always enjoy seeing the different types of birds and hearing their song.Written 3 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- owleseyKaiapoi, New Zealand872 contributionsThis walk is a loop and takes around 1hour. The whole walk is flat so good for all fitness levels. There are many different access to this walk. There is a look out tower which the kids seemed to love. There is seating scattered around the loop and areas for picnics. Different bird life to be seen. Lots of families come here during the weekend.Written 24 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Tiffany CChristchurch, New Zealand168 contributionsHuge sandpit with water play, awesome flying fox. More relaxing for parents than Margaret Mahy (in town) fewer crowds, too. Great place for free play on a nice day.Written 15 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Craig-World-TravelleAgoura Hills, CA1,836 contributionsWe went here to look for birds. Lots of ducks, swans, coots and sparrows but not much else.
It is a beautiful park and lots of people were out walking or running but we saw no other birders.
Lots of people walking their dogs. I'm glad we went but not so good for birders.Written 28 September 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - KScheepersChristchurch, New Zealand522 contributionsI took my 3 year old granddaughter and we absolutely LOVED it. We were able to feed all the animals and get really close to to the larger animals too. My granddaughter was able to do a pony and donkey ride. We took a picnic basket and bought nice coffee's there at their container shop.Written 3 October 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Ezra710Christchurch, New Zealand1,374 contributionsA simple loop track but poorly signposted. We entered the track off the end of Darroch Street and walked along a flat farm track as far as the construction site for the new motorway. On the way back I followed the dirt path through the grass up to the end of Rushmore Drive and the followed this back to the park at 27 Rushmore. Through the path you again pick up the track back to the farm track, and then back to our staying point. A few other walkers enroute, all polite in the greetings, including a couple with free roaming (but we'll controlled) dogs.Written 25 April 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
