Found this place totally by accident finding ourselves at a loose end and needing something to do. It’s a short drive from the City and once you are in the grounds it’s easy to navigate your way around. Just follow the boardwalk and there is no need to keep looking at the map provided. The reserve is split into three regions and each has something to offer for everyone. We loved the flow of the place and it was very well laid out. From the first viewing of the eels as you enter to finishing off with the kiwi it was great. The kea were one of our favourites as we got to sit and watch them being cheeky they even tried pecking at my wife’s handbag at one point but were magical to watch flying around. The kiwi house was also fascinating with I think four of them snuffling and scurrying around we could have stayed for hours watching them as at times you were so close to them. Even if you don’t have kids but love a little bush walk and wildlife, this is definitely worth the admission price.

Always a favourite when my grandchildren visit. Suitable for all ages of "children". We love the flying fox and it always impresses me how well the children share & take turns. Variety of slides for different ages & stages. Very clean even at the end of the day however maintenance appears to have been neglected recently.

A park full of green areas that you would love in summer time. It is big for wandering around or sitting down to relax. Easy to access with lot of parking area.

Public transport from CBD is available. Many restaurants and Ice cream parlors make the place more interesting.

Biked the track. Well maintained, it was bit of a grind as it was very windy but we made it to the top and back down in one piece.

What a fantastic walk!. A warning, it is not flat and there are some decent, but not too steep hills to climb. But you don't have to do it all to be impressed with the views. Very, very highly recommended. The drive there involves tight roads and extreme hairpins!.

We stopped off for a morning coffee, enjoyed devonshire tea sitting in the sun watching the ducks and children playing on the lawn. Coffee and teas good, scones excellent

New Brighton is really just a short drive from the Christchurch CBD but it does feel a world away with its seaside resort feel. There is a nice enough beach, good pier and a cafe, with a few shops and supermarket just around the corner. It does feel like another era, in a good way. A nice way to spend some relaxing time in Christchurch.

There is a good playground nearby too.

    Well worth a visit.

Quail Island is an uninhabited island within Lyttelton Harbour with history and picturesque setting. We were driven by ATTKings in a massive group.
