Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was a great trip, and Pete was a wonderful guide and driver. The views were spectacular and the sheep farm was an interesting stop. Pete had great stories to tell and was very knowledgeable about everything we saw.

Pete was a great guide. He made it so easy by giving great commentary while taking us to the best spots. The cruise was an additional highlight!

Great 2 hour trip. Skipper Chop was excellent and gave great information and local geography plus wildlife information. Saw Hector dolphins and tiny penguins. Views were awesome.

An ideal way to visit and see the city in 50 minutes. Good service. You also get a bit of history. I would recommend it. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Incredible views on the Christchurch Gondola! Smooth ride with stunning city and mountain panoramas, plus scenic walking trails at the top that offer even more breathtaking vistas. A must-do!

Fantastic day from start to finish. Loved the bakery stop to buy breakfast, there were two walks or one hike on offer at Mt Cook. Even though the weather was ordinary I loved driving through the changing landscapes of New Zealand and can’t wait to go back to Mt Cook when the weather is clear!

This tour was booked by a travel agent so was initially unaware that they had chosen Christchurch Leisure Tours as the full day tour operator as the transfer from the hotel was with super shuttle. Super Shuttle failed to pick us up from the hotel at 6:00am and had to Uber to train station. The 2-1/2 hour ride on the Costal Pafic passes through some beautiful countryside including 30 minutes along the coast during which we saw dusky dolphin near shore. We were met by Carmen from Christchurch Leisure Tours who explained how the remained of the day would go. The 10:00 whale watching went off at 10:30 with growing winds. The high-speed catamaran was a smooth ride out to the canyons to the spot when a whale was last spotted. Spent around half an hour watching a sperm whale resting on the surface before a tail flip and diving for food. Boat then started a slow return to harbour. The remaining whale watching tours were cancel because of high seas. Carmen met us at our return and drove us to the town of Kaikoura for lunch at the Why Not Cafe. Try Whitebait for first time not bad, but the fish and chips were great. After lunch Carmen stopped just south of town to see a seal colony with baby seals that lives road-side. Soo Cute!! Left Kaikoura at 15:00 for the 2-1/2 hour drive back to Christchurch. The road follows close to the rail tracks for much of the way giving a different view and a chance to catch up on some lost sleep. We did not stop at a winery as it was after 17:00 and all wineries close by then. Carmen did an excellent job of guiding and driving us.

I recently had the pleasure of traveling with Kiwi Horizons Travel and it truly exceeded my expectations. What stood out was their attention to detail; from the carefully curated itinerary to the local experiences, everything felt authentic and thoughtfully planned.

Our guide was not only knowledgeable but also genuinely passionate about the destination, sharing hidden gems that I wouldn’t have found on my own.p

A great tour of Christchurch in a comfortable van with a very guide, Pete. Experiencing punting on the river, the tram and the gondola. A very tasty and relaxing tapas lunch. Great way to hear the history of Christchurch thanks Pete we had a great time.

Even though we were unable to go whale watching, because of bad weather our guide, Sally took very good care of us. Sally was genuine and shared interesting information. She is a good driver and made the trip enjoyable. We had coffee, shopped, ate lunch, went to a winery, and even stopped along the road to view a seal colony. Even though we couldn’t see the whales, it still was an interesting adventure. Sally made the trip worthwhile.

We recently took this trip through New Zealand's stunning Arthur's Pass and surrounding sites, and it was an unforgettable experience! Our driver, Clive, was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also had a fantastic sense of humor that kept us laughing throughout the journey. He shared fascinating facts about the landscapes, wildlife, and local history, making every stop feel special. The views were breathtaking, from dramatic mountain ranges to peaceful valleys, and Clive's lively commentary added so much to the trip. I highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to explore New Zealand in a fun, engaging way!

This was a special birthday gift. The trip had to be altered as the jet boat company had no drivers at the shallows area. This gave us a longer helicopter flight to a different location a lot higher up the Waimakariri river (which we had done about 2 months before). The scenery from the helicopter was stunning and the extended flight time gave us a better view of this beautiful country. The jet boat trip, though we'd done it previously, was again awesome. The river had changed so much in just 2 months. The raw natural beauty of the river and surrounding rock formations is a must see.

Fantastic day out. Beautiful trip from Christchurch to Kaikoura through the Canterbury plains and over the mountain roads. Stopping along the way to see the seals. Unfortunately, the boat was cancelled due to rough seas, so we were sent up in a flight that lasted 30 minutes. No whales were seen, but a large pod of Dolphins gave a fabulous display. We then had a lovely lunch at the King Tide eatery. On the travels back to Christchurch, we stopped for a fabulous wine tasting. Our guide June was amazing. Highly recommend the trip.
