Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Max and his team at Trent’s were phenomenal – in all of our meetings with Max leading up to our wedding he told us not to worry about anything and of course he’d have this and that sorted and he was right, everything was perfect! Trents was such a beautiful place to get married and our guests couldn’t stop raving about the food afterwards (we went with the buffet option and had lots of vegans, vegetarians and allergies – Max made sure there was plenty for everyone). Thanks again to Max and the team for such a superb day!

We came for dinner at the restaurant and it had a warm inviting atmosphere. We ordered the Salmon and Beef and they were both wonderfully prepared. $30 each, and was worth the cost. Our waitress recommended the Rosebank Pinot Gris, which was warm and mellow and sat nicely in our mouth, and without an astringent after taste. This was so delicious I’m switching from my usual, which I’ve had for many years. We followed up with dessert of sticky date pudding and profiterole with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce for $12 each. It was a calm, serene environment. Beautiful country flowers and candles in the middle. It was a pleasurable experience and a hidden gem. The decorè is a little dated but otherwise a lovely and pleasant experience, food exceptional and the service excellent. I will be back and can see myself being a regular diner.

I belong to a U3A and for many years we have had a Christmas lunch function at Rossendale which has always been enjoyed by all. Recently a new lessee has taken over and the meal on 2 December could only be described as a disaster. There was a choice of only two meats. At the end of the first course my partner went from table to table with a plastic bag collecting the uneaten beef to take home in the hope that it would not be too tough for her dog. Desert was limited to only one choice.

We were lucky compared with another U3A who went 3 days earlier. They had a choice of 3 meats but the ham and salmon soon ran out leaving the last few tables with just risotto which had been ordered and expected to be roast lamb. There were only 50 desert dishes (mousse) for a hundred people so the last 50 people had to make do with just fruit salad without ice cream, cream or custard.

After a trip to Barhill Museum and a picnic in the village, a winery seems just the place for a laid back afternoon with a 'sip of grape' but in the last four years, I haven't been able to contact them, and the place looks run down and deserted. I think it has closed, which is a great pity as I think it would compliment Barhill. Perhaps a business idea for someone?

We had a perfect two days with our tour guide Dave to Arthur's Pass and back the 1st day and a wine tour the second day. The scenery was absolutely beautiful from the bridges, water falls, nature trails, and the ancient rocks. Dave captured a wonderful picture for me of the sky thru the trees that I'll develop for framing. The second day we went to two excellent wineries, especially the Bone Line. Thank y'all for making it special for myself and my daughter and her partner. We would love to go back one day.
