Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a wonderful gallery/museum. First the architecture and interiors are stunning, Open and inviting you feel uplifted just walking in. Then the docents were very informative, and you could tell they loved their jobs - who wouldn't? The exhibits were stunning and while I am sure they change, the blend of national art for us featuring the Māori artist, Marilynn Webb, were breathtaking! Truly worth a visit. The bistro had some great food too! :)

We had a fantastic time at this market. The vendor stands offer food, including breads, desserts, juices, sandwiches, and a variety of other foods and treats. Young people offer musical accompaniment. There are tables, shade under the trees, ducks in the river and more. Grab a snack and then take a walk in the Werton bush. See fantail birds and wood pigeons among others as well as beautiful trees. Not to be missed. One of the best farmers markets we have attended.

Came across this quite by accident. A beautiful building, still being renovated but you can wander round. The inner courtyard is beautiful. The Ernest Rutherford 'Den' is also worth doing but is quite complex. The little cinema looked great if you time your visit right! Lovely little cafe Bunsen close by, definitely worth a visit. The huge stained glass window in the main hall is fabulous too. There's a Wine Cellar tucked in too which I think we'll probably investigate more before we leave!
It's not a long visit here, you can spend under 2 hours and see it all, but an interesting place.

We were there for the last couple of hours on a Sunday in August. No problem parking. Vendors were OK. You may find some bargains. The food vendors and entertainment were the highlight.

Dropped in here to get some good affordable clothes and came out with way to much. Plenty of shops but some are so crowded I can’t get wheelchair around but others are fantastic. Great parking

Large shopping mall to have lunch, shopping and get necessary groceries from Countdown and Warehouse. Located in between Christchurch airport and the Christchurch city center. Free parking available outdoor and in the underground sheltered carpark.

I understand that the Garden City Makete at the Arts Centre is normally only held on a Sunday, but luckily for us it was being held on a Saturday. Perhaps to coordinate with our cruise ship being in town?

Either way, we were the winners. A great market with genuine local handcrafted goods and passionate vendors. Throw in a good number of food trucks, a perfect summer’s day and it all made for a great event with a nice vibe.

Located right on the historic hop on hop off tram route (stop 12) and a few metres from the botanical gardens.

So nice to have a mall that is not unpleasantly crowded. Great food court with space around it. Shopping is leisurely. Movie theater is handy. Parking is ideal.

Went there around late noon, and food stalls take up most of the market. Wouldn't make my way down especially but would drop by if in the area for a snack. It is locared right infront of the Cathedral.

Nothing special with this mall but it's still pleasant enough to visit.
The disappointing aspect is the number of closed and/or closing stores which created a sort of emptiness. The food court had a reasonable range of food options, all at good price points and it was clean.
All up, ok but nothing to write home about.

I popped in and was totally surprised by the beautiful art and picture frames at Windsor gallery, For some time I have had a vision of designing a beautiful jewellery box using quality glass frames. Philip designed me three stunning gift boxes for my high-end clients at Susan Forde jewellery store.

There are a number of shopping malls in Christchurch. Some are big and leave you feeling quite exhausted after visiting. The Merivale Mall is to me the perfect size and the nicest by far. It has a relaxed feel about it compared to the others which is part of it’s atttaction and the draw card for people.
It has a good selection of shops which caters for the needs of many. Chemist, books, shoes, clothing, supermarket, giftware, jewellery, key cutters, cafés, florist... and more besides to give you a good shopping experience.
The mall has ample car parking space and is conveniently located with other shops nearby.
