Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We couldn't have hoped for anything more. Picked up by the lovely Lynley very promptly from our accommodation in Picton and after a couple more stops and a lovely commentary, we were enjoying our first tasting. 5 great wineries chosen (Forrest being a firm favourite!) and a beautiful lunch at Scott . We felt sad when the day came to an end. Thank you Lynley for making it such a smooth and relaxed experience (far superior to the wine tour we experienced near Queenstown). We would highly recommend.

Excellent experience, very quick and easy pick up from Blenheim, good choice of bikes and a perfect location for touring the main wineries. The roads and cycle paths are flat and mostly bike friendly, a terrific day and quick return bus to the centre of town. Staff were very friendly and accommodating - definitely recommended. Lunch at St Clair was perfect as was the tasting at Fromm.

Took to the 1/2 day tour with Rebecca. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. We saw four wineries, including a very nice (but affordable) restaurant at the first winery. This tour was a major highlight of our trip to NZ.

This tour was amazing!!! Our guide was super knowledgeable about the area and about wine which just added to the experience. The selection of vineyards was varied and all exciting, we got a great range of places. I would definitely recommend this tour.

As a first-time visitor to the stunning landscapes of New Zealand, I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction than the hop on hop off wine tour! From start to finish, it was an extraordinary experience, breathtaking vineyards, historical museums and cheerful staff who truly elevated the day.

Despite the tour being an extremely busy day with a good number of guests, the staff managed to keep everything running as smoothly as possible. I really enjoyed visiting the Marlborough Wine Museum, which gave me a good introduction to New Zealand's wine industry. The Omaka Classic Car and Aviation Center is a definitive must-go to for people like me. If you like chocolate, Manaka confections is a good place to check out as well.

What really stood out was the staff's unwavering cheerfulness and enthusiasm. They were knowledgeable about the area’s history and culture. It felt like we were on a fun adventure with friends rather than just a tour group.

I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting New Zealand who appreciates good wine and friendly faces. The combination of spectacular scenery, quality wines, and the genuine warmth of the staff made this a trip I will cherish for years to come. I can’t wait to come back and do it all over again! Cheers to the wonderful people who made this experience truly memorable!

Who knew I would fall in love with a Pinot Noir I had never tried before?!

Great trip, visited 3 wineries with several tastings in each. Excellent, knowledgeable tour guide Lisa who also squeezed in a visit to a chocolate maker. Staff at wineries very informative.
Tip: no time to eat anything so eat before the tour

Cycling around Marlborough is definitely the way to explore the wineries in the region. The service provided by Explore Marlborough Wine Tours is excellent, we had a pick up from our hotel from our lovely guide James. We were taken to 3 wineries during the course of our morning, where we enjoyed a variety of exceptional wines and excellent scenery on the way. The bikes were comfortable, easy to ride and in very good condition. We felt safe at all times and even when it unexpectedly poured with rain in the afternoon, the office gave us some ponchos to keep us (sort of) dry as we continued to our lunch stop (recommended by EMWT) and final winery. A brilliant day.

We had an amazing full day tour with Darlene! Our 3 generation family were all catered for and accommodated by Darlene. She focussed on where we wanted to go and spent time to ensure we were comfortable and happy.
The vineyards were all great and we had a wonderful lunch. Never felt rushed and it felt like we were moving at our own pace (although I’m sure we weren’t!!). Darlene was very knowledgeable and spent time to explain stuff to everyone (our family and another separate couple) but it never felt forced or information for the sake of it. Excellent day and picked up and dropped off at accommodation- perfect! Highly recommended! Great experience end to end (including the booking direct with the owner).

We booked this wine region tour separate to our cruise. A number of things stand out. Firstly, our driver, Bob, was excellent. Not only did he drive safely as you would expect, he explained a number of things about the area and stopped on the way to the first winery to point out a memorial to a battle site. We visited four wineries, all of which were superb in their own way. The tour also provided a voucher for lunch, which made things easy between winery tours. Finally, Bob made sure we were back on the ship in good time. One of the outstanding days of our 13 night cruise. Highly recommended.

I booked Jimmy’s wine tour about a year out per excellent reviews and I am so glad I did. My husband and I had a truly memorable tour during our first time in New Zealand! Jimmy brought along his lovely wife for the tour as part of training and we were so glad he did. I think it really made the tour even more special as both of them shared their knowledge of wines and the area. We visited three different wineries and everybody knew Jimmy; we felt like VIPs and in very good hands. We learned so much from Jimmy and even tasted different grapes from the vines that he recommended. The highlight of our tour was Cloudy Bay and Jimmy was kind enough to drive us back to the winery at the end of our tour so we could buy a few more bottles of wine. Both Jimmy and his wife were engaging and interested in getting to know us. We also really enjoyed asking them so many questions and they were happy to answer them all. We did not want to say goodbye. I highly recommend this tour and will book Jimmy again if we find ourselves back in the Marlborough region.

I am so sorry it has taken me so long to review this amazing tour as it really was the highlight of our New Zealand trip. We were picked up by Tanya, our WONDERFUL guide from Marlborough Tour Company. Tanya is so knowledgeable (especially as she previously worked at Cloudy Bay, friendly, helpful and happy to wait while we take photos or take photos of us! We adore her!

We start at Cloudy Bay where we sample fizzy, white and red before a look round the winery (and some shopping of course!). We then head to Framingham Winery where we sample six different wines before being taken to Picton to join the Odyssey and Captain Nick for a BBQ lunch followed by seafood cruise. As we sail around the Marlborough Sounds Captain Nick tells us all about the area before we moor up and he treats us to locally caught salmon and Greenshell mussels on the BBQ, all accompanied by Sauvignon Blanc obvi! We see lots of wildlife and even get to feed the local ducks and fish!

Tanya, Nick and stewardess Rhonda cannot be more friendly, helpful, kind and knowledgable. We really recommend this trip!
